T daylilies 2020

Tiger Swirl was an end of the season bargain at Home Depot. I hope it looks this good this summer.
Tyger River finally hit it stride, it took four seasons.
TrahLyta, a reliable oldie most of us probably grow. I hope everyone posts their photos so we can compare.
Tootsie Rose, a small plant has languished. It got moved and did much better.
Top Honors, an oldie with large blooms, sort of a wild child!
Tall Dark Stranger, I cant say enough good things about this one. A tall daylily, a great performer, a good increaser and a gorgeous bloom. I can’t believe how well it’s done in two full seasons .
Tropical Delight is my smallest daylily, the blooms are under 2” and the plant is about 12” in height.
Through Dark Waters was a bonus last spring, had a few blooms last summer. It’s a nice color, will see how it does.
Toward the Blue has first blooms last summer, I love it already.
To Nancy With Love was a recent addition and had a few blooms this past season.

Techny Spider is one that although short I will always grow . What a looker!
Teddy Bear's Picnic is also fairly new to the gardens I am kind of partial to the greyish tones some daylilies have.

I will admit every time I see Mary’s Baby I think I need it! There are so many other really impressive ones! Here are a few of mine. So many I did not have photos of this year. Margo Reed Indeed did not perform well nor did Mal and a number of others. Malachite Prism-I posted this as Amethyst Prism (which I also have) and did edit it out of the As. Love this lily. Comments (43)Heather - I question the veracity of that cascade registration on Rainbow Maker. I've had it for four years and have never once seen it cascade. Does it ever cascade for you? I've noticed many daylilies in the last five years have been registered as cascade that don't really satisfy the AHA definition. Comments (40)If I have to do to obtain a phyto I make arrangements with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. They will sometimes come out to inspect the plants but this time I had to prepare the daylilies ( clean off all soil . Roots need to be washed clean , trim the daylily leaves to a reasonable length) , I took them into the Canadian Food Inspection Agency office . The inspector then did a count of the daylilies , inspected them to make sure all the soil was removed inspected the leaves and roots for any pests or soil . I had soaked the plants in water for a couple of days and then hit the roots and leaves with the hose to ensure no soil left on the plants . They passed inspection so he issued the paperwork ( the phyto) . That was all there was to it . I paid my $13 dollars . It was I believe $7.50 for the inspection and $5.50 for the paperwork signed by the inspector . Then he informed me I needed to put the original phyto on the outside of the package and a copy inside. That way the border inspection can happen and the inspector can pass on a copy to what ever people require a copy in the state it is being shipped to . Then of course there is the cost of shipping . In the US each state can have different requirements and costs but the requirements are all pretty straight forward . Phytos cost more in the US and each state has different requirements and costs . For example N.Y . State has a $25 phyto charge . I know this because I am in the process of bringing some daylilies in from a grower in NY state. Other states have higher costs. Michigan I believe was $60 US for a phyto to Canada This link might be of help https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/planthealth/SA_Export Sending out daylilies in the US does require some kind of paperwork to ship state to state and requirements like what California has are there so the spread of disease and insects doesn't happen. .Many people do not know this . So I am not sure what requirement Indiana has for exporting daylilies to other states. Comments (19)Nancy - I do like the looks of Coach's Magic Man. I'm very fond of all purples with teeth. Shark Infested Waters is a pretty red. Are the teeth white on that one? I have one more toothy cultivar that I forgot previous times, probably because it's my least favorite. But it is a great performer and usually has 20 buds or more. Timeless Magesty is a pretty one . Also new to the gardens . I am only now in recent years adding bagel varieties where before all my attention was focussed on spiders and UF's
Tina Cox is new and is pretty , not a big bloom ( at least not yet) but a lovely bitone Just wish I knew who Tina Cox is .

4 years agoHaving a hard time picking favorites from yours, Sherry. It may be Tall Dark Stranger, I have that one too, and can't agree more. The 1st season it bloomed heavily for 1st year, but did not have the color that it had last year, its 2nd year. It has multiplied really well, blooms heavily, and I love the blooms. Toward the Blue is really pretty. Love To Got Be the Glory, Maryl, and Trifecta as well as Techny Spider are my favorites of Heather's.

Truly Magic was going to get the boot a couple of years ago, but has been blooming its head off since. Rather plain, but I like the color

Two to Tango is a small double that does well. Unusally not this splotchy. I don't take many photos of it because I am not into the little ones so much, but it is cute

4 years agoYour quote is so true! Even before smart phones and the internet, it was a tradition around here to call the bathroom the library.
Nice T's! I know Trahlyta is a well known daylily, but I don't believe I have ever seen it in person. T-bone Walker was added to the garden last season, so I can't wait to see it this year. Tiger's Eye has an interesting eye. Tyger River has done well for us.
Here are my T's.Tangerine Angel has perfect fairly small (4.5 inches) blooms.
Tears of a Clown is an offspring of Clown Parade.
Tepin has struggled to get established because it is in a bed that keeps getting taken over by vicious weeds.
The Bride of Dracula is one of our favorite toothy oranges.
The Dentist was really wonderful last season. It blooms fairly late so it was at its peak when the others were finished.
The Prestige has such rich color. I am not sure it is happy in our garden. It was hybridized in Louisiana and seems tender.
The Tribble with Blue has short scapes with smallish flowers. I love the color.

4 years agoI am pretty sure this is Time in a Bottle. It was supposed to be Jacki Kropf.
I so wish we could hybridize a daylily that was hardy with the color of Tom Adams, but it hasn't happened yet. Tom spends the winter in the greenhouse and always blooms twice for us--once in the greenhouse and once in late summer.
I bought Toothylicious to use in the eyed toothy program, but so far it hasn't done much.
Topguns My Friend Ellen sometimes is single and sometimes is double. It is lovely either way.
I think the flower of Topguns War Wizard in this picture is too rosy. All of our Topguns daylilies came from the Region 2 summer conference held in Indianapolis a few years back.
Translyvanian Tango has been a bit of a disappointment. The color is not very saturated.
I picked up Trance for 5 or 10 dollars. I think it was a steal. I love this one. Bob and I are beginning to love the diploid ufs from the programs of Margo Reed and Jim Murphy.

4 years agoTremor was very pretty last season. I think the base color of so many patterned daylilies is a dirty mauve so I appreciate the pure shell pink of this one.
Triple Cherries is one of my favorite daylilies although it does not perform up to published stats here (but really, how many do?). I love the intensity of the eye and the nice edge. It's also quite fertile and will give you double daylilies.
TrueNorth Eye in the Sky bloomed for the first time last season. This is one of our Canadian purchases.
Another Canadian daylily, TrueNorth Queen Bee is really exciting.

The Ultimate Sacrifice is my favorite T.
The Dominator is nice, but it keeps getting eaten by grubs and loses the fans it gains.

My Teddy Bears Picnic is in too much shade now, and I sold most of the clump. Here's how it looked when its spot was sunnier. As you can see from the bud scars, it has lots of buds.

The Thin Air was another new Hanson. Superb color that I love!

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoI am always late to the party!! Good excuse today as monsoon rains kept power going off. Even local schools turned out early due to road flooding in many places.
So many pretty ones and too many to list all that caught my eye but here are a few: Tall Dark Stranger, To God be the Glory, T-Bone Walker, The Prestige, Trance, Twist of Lemon, Tune the Harp, and The Ultimate Sacrifice. Of course many others!!
Here are a few of mine.
This is Thomas Tew-most of you know him as one of an increasing number of suitcase lilies. I have seen him on several sites and this is what he looks like-sorta a muted, dirty tan. And this is always what my first bloom looks like. But then all the rest look like the next picture!
That tan whitens and he looks fabulous. This particular bed has “white“ soil (although I would rather have Celeste’s “purple“ soil!) as all the daylilies in this bed have much whiter color than same clumps in other parts of the garden.

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoAnother in the white soil bed. This was a noid until I did some digging in notes and soil. Identified this as True Gertrude Demerest. Sent some to Celeste and hers bloomed with the true wonderful polychrome colors it should have.

4 years agoKate, you just refreshed my memory of the name of the beautiful noid you sent me (now no longer a noid)! It's interesting how your 'white' bed plays tricks with the color but I fell in love with it from your pictures.....and I love it pale like that! It is so lovely. It is interesting how it is from l986 and yet it is as pretty as anything new in the garden. It will always be a favorite of mine since it came from a friend:)

4 years agoBrad, I hope Thomas Tew blooms for you this year. And, yes, it is interesting about that bed of mine. The only thing different about it from the rest of my yard is that a silo once stood on that site. I may get that soil tested this year. Meanwhile I try to put all my lilies that have “white” as part of their makeup in that bed. It is the bed where Stardust Dragon resides. I don’t mean to hijack this topic but here is Porcelain Ruffles (that I forgot to post under P) in that bed. It is “ivory with pink overlay” but always this shade in that bed! Now if I can just figure out how to get some of Celeste’s purple soil!!! :)
