Newbie Photo Update... And Questions as usual... ;o)
Comments (4)are you adding any water soluable fertilizer? Fish Emulsion is organic. That might give your plants a little boost. Cucumbers I have no advice for, I can't grow them it seems, my plants always succumb to Powdery Mildew or underwater or overwatering. For the bugs, I'd use Neem or safer's insecticidal soap. I just moved and I'm currently in the process of starting my raised beds and should be planting this weekend if everything goes as plan. Per all my research, various websites this is what I'm going to plant now in ground as seeds.. I'm in west Broward btw: Bush beans, Carrots, Lettuce, Green Onions and Spinach. I'll probably do weekly seedings so I can have a longer supply. Transplants that I will be looking for at garden centers: Brocolli, Summer Squash, Pumpkin and maybe a Tomato. I'll be starting/germinating all of my herbs indoors and on a covered patio before I put them in the raised bed. I'll be growing most of what you are too. Good luck and don't be disappointed, if something doesn't grow... start over :)...See Morermkitchen-love your kitchen-any updated photos/comments?
Comments (32)I remember because I misspelt your userid (transposed the l and h) and was mortified -- I really hate misspelling names ... and I didn't want you to think I didn't respect your name! I'll tell you, I think you are so smart to take a l-o-n-g time with the floorplan. With some things we didn't take long enough and I kinda rue it. And now that it's done, there is no way we are going to change things! Nothing major, but the realization that if we'd taken a little longer maybe some of these things would've presented themselves. Oh well! The main faucet I learned about from a former poster, susanandmarkw (of the "Something's Gotta Give" inspired ktichen). The faucet is the Pegasus Commercial Kitchen Faucet from Expo Design Center. We don't have an Expo here in Colorado, so I picked one at random (Tennessee) and they sent it to me. Shipping was only $7 -- how crazy is that? I think the faucet itself was ~$350, but I can't remember for sure. Maybe it was less? We like it. There are two things I've noticed: 1) because we also have a super-deep sink I can't get the faucet head really far down into the sink bowl. And because our sink has zero radius (meaning: sharp edges where the sink walls meet the sink bottom) crud can get caught there. It's not the end of the world but something I have noticed .... 2) There's no way to lock the spray on. Or if there is, we haven't discovered it yet! I will say the handle to hold the spray is really comfortable -- not hard to squeeze at all and the shape fits comfortably in the palm of the hand. And I love that there's just a simple hook to hold the faucet -- nothing to click it up into. It's a v. simple, straightforward and intuitive faucet....See MoreSo frustrating! What can I do to move things along with update?
Comments (39)Nothing yet! We are still waiting for the insurance settlement to get things started. Our kitchen was ordered back in April and is expected to be delivered by June 9th. Our contractor is scheduled for the week of June 12th. But the reconstruction and repair of our walls, moldings, floors, etc, has not started yet and may force us to delay the kitchen install. We were told that the work may start this coming Monday which would be great, as that would keep us on schedule. I am trying to be hopeful. I now have everythingvelse picked out except the backsplash. My Kitchen floor will be grouted Alterna vinyl in Sistine White. The ajacent dining room floor will be Mirage Maple Sonora hardwood... and I already shared the Basset dining table which has been ordered. I just can't wait to get back home, especially to all my newly designed rooms!...See MoreBefore & After Kitchen Remodel Photos
Comments (63)I thought it looked nice before, but it sure looks great afterward. I have a somewhat similar layout to your new kitchen, but your space is much bigger and your choices/finishes are more $$$ than mine. I am sure you have been thoroughly enjoying it....See Moreeschism
