Need help with my existing recessed lightening.Need to add more lights
Comments (6)I will not be needing a gimbal for the two new recessed lights. They will not be used to highlight anything on the wall. (see pic's below) I just need for lightening above the sofa because it is too dark in the seating area . Unfortunately I do not have the manufacturer's name, the design electrician never gave it to me (and it is so many years ago). My thing is that I just want it to look nice & not look awkward. If I can't get the same exact gold rim (naturally without the gimbal) then I feel I would have to go with a white rim or no rim recessed above the dark sofa area. My concern (I would appreciate your honest opinion) ... Do people mix them up like that? Have two different style recessed lightening in the same room? see the dark area where my verticals are (left of sofa). You can also see the gold gimbals recessed on the right. Thank you for your patience....See MoreHow to add touch of natural stone (preferably blue) in creative way?
Comments (17)I think the last of the slabs listed above might be Van Gogh. I saw a slab very similar that I didn’t act quickly enough before it was sold. Sharon, I agree your counter does still seem neutral even though it has a lot of movement (I LOVE your stone!). OP, are you legitimately considering using a slab outside of your kitchen, like in an outdoor shower? If yes, I say go for it!! In the right house, with the right bank account, a slab could make a gorgeous feature wall, maybe even with lighting behind it. Or use it in a half-bath, as a buffet topper, in a basement bar, so many possibilities. What about finding a remnant you could use inside a cabinet, in a hidden coffee bar or similar. I used part of my slab inside a cabinet just for fun (and because I thought I’d put the coffee maker here)....See MoreHow do I add some dramatic lighting to my home?
Comments (8)Still not done, but getting there. I definitely like the idea of some floor lamps. Definitely needs some accent lighting that I’ll have to find. I have two outlets symmetrically placed on the black wall and I’ll probably do something with those. p.s. It’s an odd layout/space for sure, but really just trying to find ways to add some drama to it....See Moreadd more storage in my kitchen
Comments (12)I picked up a Island similar to this one, at a garage sale for about $40. The flip-up top gives an eating counter or just for extra counter space. The other side has a drawer with cabinet doors below, to keep stuff out of sight. At a rummage sale, $5 got us something similar to this butcher block island. Someone had installed a rack of 4 key hooks on one side, handy for potholders or keys, and a towel bar on the other side. My son used it in his first apartment. In his studio apartment now, where he doesn’t have room for a table AND an island, or even the combo I showed at the top, he has something like this instead, bar height or counter height. I think he got it from the neighborhood Marketplace. Check your university bulletin boards, signs, find out who‘s moving or graduating. Ask around, post on your social media, look on the marketplaces. In a college town there is always someone leaving stuff behind....See Morethreers
