Miracle fruit dying?
Comments (17)I have 2....1 has lost all its leaves and done absolutely nothing all winter. It's in some type of suspended animation. I just repotted in gritty mix and cut it pretty much in half as a last ditch effort to revive it. The other one has put out some leaves this winter by the window. Unfortunately I put it out a few nice days this spring and it got sunburned and lost about half. I was hopeful I'd actually get some fruit sometime after the next set of leaves came. The good news is it still appears to be putting out a few new leaves. Some advice...be very patient with it when you first get it. Keep it out of the sun for a month while it gets established! (assuming you got it bare root). Then SLOWLY move into full sun. They are slow to react to anything, so if you make the mistakes I did you'll keep losing valuable leaves. Take it easy on the fertilizer, it gets along pretty well without much at all. I switched to just a pinch of humic acid (to lower PH) and a pinch of kelp with every watering. It seemed to appreciate that combo- I took it as advice from someone else who was successful. I'd stay away from chemical fertilizers for a while since it is VERY sensitive and easy to over fertilize. Even then go with just a couple drops per gallon. Also I use a spray bottle to try and boost humidity whenever I walk past but I'm not sure if that makes a difference; I think it might. How's yours look? Where'd you get it from? It seems the norm that they don't have much root mass for the amount of top growth....See MorePlumeria leaves turning yellow/brown; Some leaves curl
Comments (58)Jennifer —-(Spraying with Neem Oil and or and other mixtures to eradicate the insects organically could still harm those beneficial insects. Some people will just let those pest stay on the tree because they dont want to harm them. Its a difficlt choice to make for some and you need to understand that some bad infestations that might get out of hand and could cause your trees to become weak and allow other diseses to slowly kill your tree. i always try and let Mother Nature work on the right balance of the pest verses the beneficial insets to keep everything in check. But sometimes i will have to step in and use more than organic to combact the problem. its up to you to decide what is best for your tree. Comments (10)Gee, thanks, Bob. You have me digesting soil biology so early in the morning, my coffee got cold. I know about mycorrhiza but had to read up on humic acid. I have to tell you, I started with a raised eyebrow and ended up intrigued. Anyway. My thoughts on the matter is predicated on the simplicity of care I am trying to achieve based on the important distinction between outdoor gardening and container gardening. These two ingredients you mentioned occur naturally in the soil, as you know, where plants will have use of them. Containers, though, are closed systems (ish) where you can control most soil factors. It's potentially a simple ecosystem especially for those using plant media with little or no composted ingredients (like gritty mix). If I added mycorrhiza to my media, for example, that's just another thing I have to keep alive (in the very airy gritty mix or pure sifted pumice I use) that my plant wont need since I am regularly fertilizing it anyway. Since the relationship between these fungi and plant roots turned out to be not so simple, I decided not to bother. As for humic acid, it does appear to help with the uptake of the nutrients being added to the potting media, with twice the CAC of soil humus and about 5 times that of good quality peat moss. I'd still have to add all sorts of other stuff that my plant will need in order to thrive (like minerals and micronutrients). But this will probably add zing to some of my adeniums in gritty mix, should I want to push them (probably wont); not so much for my other succulents that I am growing under a strict "no pushing" regimen. If I have a farm, where I have to worry about overall cost, carbon footprint and ROI, it will be a different conversation. In a container though? The short of it is that I can only handle the simple but well executed production of "Tape" with only three characters to direct. I can't handle "Noises Off" in a pot. Great topic though! I learned something. Pagan...See MoreAnyone use RAW nutrients from NPK industries
Comments (28)I personally have used the all in one grow and flower version and i still continue to use the full regiment of NPK RAW nutes in a soil mix with phenomenal results. You may not have the best luck on your first try around as it does have a slight learning curve on application as you can really adjust the program for what each and every plant wants and needs the most. As we all know all strains are and want different concentrations. thats why i dont like the whole 20-20-20 crap, Ive never had healthier nor happier plants until i used NPK RAW. Im not gonna lie im not a huge fan of thier all in one mixtures but that goes right back to not every plant wants the exact same thing as its neighbor. You cant go wrong with adding like Kelp, Humic Acid, Fill up, Omnia and some microbes maybe even some B-vitamin the best part of all is just with those couple of types you can make like 3 separate and different foliar sprays like kelp and humic acid mixed in a small dose and used foliar is awesome. VT did a 10 year study on it I found out as im from VA but i digress. Harley is just a guy who loves what he does and is backing a product he truly gets excited about who can blame him. if you would actually watch the whole videos you would see he knows his shit without a doubt. seems like some people just hate on them without any valid argument or even knowing anyone that has used the line of nutes but they will always say that their own regiment is better than everyone else's. Dont forget you can get the super small bags for hella cheap like 10-12 bucks on amazon or they have a starter kit with all the nutes they sell for like 90-110$ and that will run you a full grow and have some left over to start your next. Id say go for it man its worth every penny...See Moreirina_co
