Comments (47)Skibby, know I haven't planted goatsbeard in that garden, but not sure what it (between the two areas of phlox 'Laura') is. Extreme right: is something like a dracaena in one of my customer's planters on a stone column behind. Last visit, cut the Kashmiri tree mallow back (pink flower above the liatris) to expose the phlox behind. Thinking it's too early for that height from other tall perennials planted in that location. You've got me wondering. Going to check on visit tomorrow. Thanks re combination. I plant and tend to it all, but there's always an element of chance that hopefully is corrected (e.g. pulling out wild running goldenrod and asters, inside the beds, before they've really got going). Kali_c, am very fond of that size of dahlia in areas too small for a perennial bed. Your's currently look much better than mine. For the first time in ten or so years of using medium-sized dahlias, I'm trying to deal with mildew on the leaves....See MoreCitrus tree pics December 2020) Please let's see them.

Comments (29)RaeAnna, I will for sure! That arbor has been in the works for so long that if I actually ever get it completed you’d better believe I will be insufferably showing it off. Lilyfinch, thank you! Earth Angel wants to be much bigger than that spot allows, but she’s worth wrangling for those blooms and repeats really well for me there, which keeps that area interesting when Eden is resting. You should definitely get another! I have two, one on either side of that arbor entrance and it’s all of my littles’ favorite rose. They are always wanting to run out there and smell it. There’s so much info out there on the internet nowadays that I feel pretty confident attempting to build most anything. I did the entire fence by myself and even learned how to do concrete and stone mosaics online so I could lay the path. But there’s something about this arbor that’s really intimidating me. I want it to be an arch that mirrors the architecture of the front of the house, and I can’t settle on what method I’m going to use. I tend to obsessively plan to a fault and that’s part of the problem. I need to just bite the bullet and get started and whatever happens, happens! I’d love to see your birdhouse! There’s nothing like the pride you feel when you’ve done it yourself. Vapor, thank you so much! Please copy the combo, I’d love to see what you do with it! And thank you for the compliments, the house exterior and garden has been in the works for a long time, so comments like “utter charm” just thrill me to the bone in a way I can’t adequately articulate. It’s been so much work over years and so frustrating at points, and of course I doubt my choices sometimes like we all do and worry it’s all “too weird” for a front yard in a land of lawns, so positive feedback means a lot to me....See MoreFavorite clump shots this past season, let’s see yours!
Comments (24)I love this clump thread! Sherry, I especially love the Indian Giver clump. My IG did great shows last year but not so much this year. Wow, Debra, Reckless Girls! Kate, love the cascade of Thomas Tew. David, That clump of Websters Pink Wonder must be amazing in person with the size of its flowers! Carmen Renee, of course. Daily for a couple of weeks or more Castle Pinkney Chance Encounter also had large shows daily for a couple weeks or more. It had way for than this, but this was the best photo. Desert Icicle had several days of great shows. Hot Wheels and Ciel D'or. Both had daily shows as usual. Coral Majority also gave shows for 3 or more weeks non stop. I'm already one over. Hard to stop. Brad...See Moreoursteelers 8B PNW
