install vinyl planks before or after cabinet installation?

Need advise ASAP We are remodeling our home entirely. We want to install 1200 sq. ft. of vinyl plank flooring, but were told by our general contractor that the flooring must be laid down before he will install the cabinets. Our concerns are (1) without the cabinets installed we could possibly be choosing a flooring that would not look good with the cabinets. Everything looks good at the store, but needs to be brought into the home where it will actually be installed under different lighting. (2) Why pay for the square footage laying under the cabinets and boost the cost of the flooring? (3) Several different flooring stores (not big box stores) tell us NOT to install the flooring until after the cabinets are installed because the weight of the cabinets & countertops will not enable the clicked planks to "move" as they need to and will cause damage.

So who is right or wrong?????
