Finally hung Master Bedroom drapes
Comments (31)Thank you all so very, very much!!!! I bought some fabric to make white and cream pillows today. I have two mostly done. One has an envelope look - you know the traingle folded over. That one I am sewing pearls along the envelope's seam with a dangling tear drop pearl at point of "enevelope" and tear drop pearls on corners of pillow. The 2nd one has a cream back, an off white satin as the front with a sheer white shimmering fabric on top of satin. I sewed 3 medium size pearls at center of pillow. Still thinking about what else to use. I have two more pillow forms laying around. One will use some of the seashells from that broken tangles noisy wind chime. I have not designed that one yet and the 4th will coordinate with the envelope one. I will post pics when done. Thanks again, everyone!!!!!!!!!...See MoreWindow coverings for sliding glass door in master bedroom?
Comments (7)You have a lovely view, but I'm betting that (depending on your zone, of course) there will be times when it is either too hot or too cold outside, and you will want more protection from the elements than your glass doors provide. I have sliding glass doors at both ends of my sun porch, and have countless times thanked myself for installing thermal drapes over them. The drapes easily slide aside when the weather is good and then just soften the edges a bit, but are there to provide protection, additional warmth or coolness, and privacy when desired. Although even sheers will provide some warmth, they will not keep out the heat of the sun or the chill of a cold wind nearly as well, not will they afford full privacy when that is desired. Comments (16)The British have always liked short curtains while it seems to be anathema currently in North America. Although in this instance, short curtains seem too busy in a very small, very busy room. I'd probably go with matchstick bamboo blinds or Roman shades; I've had good experience with the relatively inexpensive Roman blinds at blinds dot ca (the Canadian arm of blinds dot com). You can get plug-in (vs hardwired) wall sconces, which might be what you need. Urban Outfitters carry some, https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/pendant-lighting-sconces The shorter lamp on the left is pretty much useless if the person on that side of the bed likes to read, or wants to avoid eyestrain. And if you find a headboard more functional and comfortable, I'd get a headboard. The window/bed placement is what it is, plus it's a rental. I wouldn't compromise function or comfort for however long you're in here. It can still look nice : ) . I would get a large piece of art for the wall and center it on the wall, not the bed; again, the window placement is what it is. Find something you like, at an art fair or Etsy, or have a favorite photo enlarged and printed on canvas....See MoreUpdating Rental Master Bedroom
Comments (6)I think your best bet is to neutralize whatever you can. Meaning stay neutral if you do new curtains. Maybe do a plainer bedding set. I love the accents you have. The bench is awesome. Just a bit hidden lol. Remove the wall art on the bed wall and possibly add a light over the bed there instead. Like a big gold pretty linear reading style light. And maybe a light in place of the fan something like this would be sooo pretty...See MoreMJD232
