I love the drapes. I think I have some in the rental :) Are they dupioni? They have that richness in their look. I think they work wonderfully with the whole room...and the darling babies :)

Thanks so much! I just looked at the label on the drapes - made in China. They are 59% silk and 41% polyester with a white polyester lining. The lining helps give the weight. I bought them at like 75% off and maybe with an extra 30% off of that. One of those great Dillards sales. Thanks again.

Hey, as I looked at your pix, I wonder if you might try another spot for your floral arrangement? I think it would be very nice on the right side of the dresser on which the tv is located. Instead of the lamp and framed pix. I think it would give the arrangement the breathing room it needs to appreciate the verticality.

Thanks Les. Hmmm, I put the new floral in that corner because it seemed so empty. I think it would look nice where the dresser lamp is but I need a lamp in that corner. This room has no overhead lighting. In fact, only the kichen and dining room have overhead lighting. And the dining room has it in the wrong place. Oh well.

Bru, LOL. Kelly and Joey are the larger of my cats. Long legs, big boned. Not super heavy though like some people who have cats that are 20-25 lbs. Priness is one of my smallest - under 10 lbs. Most of my cats were either farm cats or feral cats or were just lost. Phoenix who is about 13 years old actually was born here - maybe in Tempe, because my boyfriend at the time - I lived in WI - was on vacation here in Phoenix visiting his friend who was attending medical school here. He found a stray kitten at the apartment complex and flew him back to WI as a present for me. I named him Phoenix never knowing I would one day move here. Somehow it all ties together - the past leading up to the present.

I know you didn't ask, but after reading Les' suggestion about the floral arrangement. What if you compromised and removed the taller pieces/cattails (not the furry cat tails - ha.)? I see what she's saying about it blocking the view of your artwork. If you removed the cattails, you could see that more, but still have the fullness of your arrangement.

Either way, it looks stunning and makes me want to crawl back in bed....

The gold drapes are BEAUTIFUL!!!! Love your style! The wall mounted side lamps are really NICE!! Pictures hung on the headboard is an unusual touch. I think it's not done that way becasue you can't sit up in bed and lean against the headboard.....like to use the lamp and read....right? It's impractical. But if it's a spare bedroom and you don't use it?

Thanks all. The master headboard is the pantry door from my previous 80 year old house inn WI. The door was in the basement and not used because the pantry was used everyday as I had my coffee pot, toater, microwave. There was not much countertop in the kitchen, just doorways and windows.
Pantry:

I can sit up in bed because of the pillows I have keep away from the headboard.
So today I have to work on hanging drapes in the guest room - the one with the mirror. This is a bigger job because I have to move this computer and desk out of the way.

Oceanna, thanks so much. Yes, I have a few friends from Dillards. One, especially, Ivett came three times a day to feed and check on my animals while I was in the hospital 4 weeks ago. She even brought her 84 year old mom who threw the tennis ball for my Border Collie Duncan while they sat out on the patio. Her and her husband and her 24 year old son moved all of the boxes I had packed starting last September to my new rental. She's been wonderful. I even had a gal from GW who lives in Cave Creek help me move some items into the house in January. I am very grateful. The patio area was one of the first I set up because I love being out there each day, especially in the morning. And Carol, also from Dillards, has taken me to Mayo before when I was not supposed to drive home after a test. She is taking me to a late birthday lunch maybe this week.
Thanks again. It does help me mentally to get the house in shape. I still have a disaster of boxes in the garage to deal with. I have the cat litter in the one car garage. In fact, I do not have a key for the garage and it does not have an automatic opening overhead door. So I use it as I used my basement in WI. In fact, it seems a lot of people do not even use the garage for cars since almost no one has a basement for storage.

Thanks again. Garage might have to wait for next week. I want to do enough before I go back into surgery in mid-May because I will be resting after that.

Thank you very much. It feels good waking up in the morning seeing the room almost finished. None of my drapes are new. I had them in the last rental house but I like them better here.
Today I might hit the fabric store to start work on the cream and white accent pillow with many of my loose faux pearls sewn on. This would be for the future queen bed (coming before Christmas 2009 I hope) that will have a RL cream colored embroidered duvet. It's good to keep busy.
And having the two other bedrooms and dining room drapes hung (see More drapes hung! post) makes the rental house feel more like home.

threegrad I'm embarrassed that I have one who is 18 lbs. He's a huge guy, like you say, very large and big boned. I have a girl who use to weigh 17. She's now in declining health and has lost weight. I found her as a stray and named her Olive Oil because she was so skinny, you could see all her bones. She plumped up and never gave a second thought to her past life of starvation. LOL

Did you ever see that fat pet special? What's really sad is when the cats or dogs get so fat that they can hardly walk or God forbid, their stomach drags on the ground - dogs with short legs can suffer from this. If the cat can jump, run around, etc. 18 lbs is fine, unless vet says animal is in health danger.

Beautiful 3D just beautiful. If you did give away the other set, not too worry, we are the only ones that will know because it is lovely as is. Both rooms are just lovely.I miss how cats curl up so daintly on pillows.
How kind that a GWer from Cave Creek helped you move boxes. You have a very nice circle of friends.
BTW I think the only people in AZ who didn't use the garage for the car were people from back east who were used to a basement!

I'm tired (getting ready to leave work), and I love cats. So if you don't mind, I'll just crawl onto the bed for a few minutes. I won't stay long. I promise.....

No, I missed it and am glad I did. I've seen a couple of those huge cats and as far as I'm concerned it's another form of animal cruelty. Snow runs and jumps and I tell him to stop with the jumping because I am worried he'll hurt himself on the way down. I've had cats, even ones in shape, sprain something while jumping so I know he's at risk with his big self.

I hear ya, Alisande! I came back to look at these pics of Threedgrad's room (& cats) again to revisit the warm & cozy feel she has captured...it is very hard to resist!

Threedgrad, there's just something about your rooms, I can't put my finger on it, but you always create something special that is beyond "decorating!"

Also, I can't get over how adorable Phoenix is! You should turn that pic into a greeting card or calendar page...it's outrageously cute!

I bought some fabric to make white and cream pillows today. I have two mostly done. One has an envelope look - you know the traingle folded over. That one I am sewing pearls along the envelope's seam with a dangling tear drop pearl at point of "enevelope" and tear drop pearls on corners of pillow. The 2nd one has a cream back, an off white satin as the front with a sheer white shimmering fabric on top of satin. I sewed 3 medium size pearls at center of pillow. Still thinking about what else to use. I have two more pillow forms laying around. One will use some of the seashells from that broken tangles noisy wind chime. I have not designed that one yet and the 4th will coordinate with the envelope one.

I will post pics when done.

I forgot to mention that recently while cleaning out the garage and some of the closets I found the 2nd set of drapes for the master bedroom. Now I can close them at night and when they are pushed back the look is fuller. I had packed them at a bottom of a small box of art to act as a cushion against breakage. I am so glad I found them.
