Best wallpaper similar to this? Old Victorian home...
Comments (18)Thibaut and Bradbury bradbury are going to be what ends up in our home. If you look at the bradbury lines you will see that they are somewhat bold, but continue looking at each color story and you will see the fill patterns many of which I can see in your lovely home. In addition they are period appropriate which IMO is a priority for such a lovely space. Many of the bradbury papers have gold or copper colored leafs on the design. It's very similar to what an old paper would have, though applied differently and the shine they give really makes that old woodwork sing. Be sure to order (and yes you do pay for them) samples and as noted above, go for a simple pattern because they are very expensive and from experience I can tell you that hanging wallpaper with a distinct large pattern is a nightmare in a victorian or older home. Level, Plumb or Square....pick two and hope you picked the right two is our contractors saying. I hung a mural in DH's room and it was HELL! I mean sheer hell to hang. Corners are not square, the ceiling is not level...argh it was awful, but with a smaller pattern would have been so much easier!!!!...See MoreSeeking suggestions: home gym/yoga room
Comments (15)Eleena- I like the yellow lavender or soft green lavender combos. But as the only female in the house, the lavender will most certainly be nixed. My men are not open to softer colors. I find it difficult to decorate because even when I am doing intensive workouts using bosu, free weights or cardio I like the calming colors which I truly appreciate when doing yoga, But the "men" want strong energetic colors that I associate with adrenaline pumping-- bold red, deep bright orange... they claim it helps them train harder. I'm afraid there is no medium here-- and we all need to feel inspired to go in there!! I appreciate every suggestion!...See MoreUse textured wallpaper to cover old wallpaper I cant remove?
Comments (5)Karen: which technique are you doing? Textured wallpaper over old wallpaper? Or one of the others? Rereading my post (after getting some sleep) it reads more like I am asking about texturing with drywall compound (like imitating venetian plaster, or a tuscan stucco look). PLEASE come back and tell me how it went! I have seen the paper bag technique done on home improvement shows. ItÂs actually simpler. Dipping in poly would be very messy and sticky. You adhere the paper with latex glaze or acrylic matte medium. Then cover with the same clear liquid to seal it in before painting. My hesitation with doing that is if someday down the road you didnÂt want such a texture, you could NEVER get it off. The entire room would have to be skimcoated by someone with the skills to get it really flat and smooth. I donÂt think I want to go that route. At least with drywall compound texturing it could be sanded off smooth easily....See Moresuggest flooring for this wallpaper
Comments (2)That's beautiful. It depends on where you live and on what room. For example, tile in the living room isn't done much in the Pacific Northwest where I live, but hardwoods are very popular and raise the resale value. We might do tile in a kitchen or bath, though. But I think tile is very popular in hotter climates. So what room is this for, and what climate? Either one could complement that wallpaper....See MoreBeth H. :
