Comments (9)I have Bosch double wall ovens, not French door but side swing. I’ve been happy with them. Have had them for a little over a year - through the holiday season - where I both baked and roasted quite a bit, without any issues (although to be honest I am a novice when it comes to convection mode). I have a counter depth French door refrigerator but not a cafe or Bosch (the Bosch was not yet on the market when I made my purchase or I would have strongly considered it). It’s been great. " Sorry that you missed the note somewhere that the entire kitchen as a system needs to be defined before buying anything and particularly before defining cabinets and cutting duct paths. The kitchen system has to include both the hood system and the make-up air system. Both of these can (in some cases) be relatively non-complex, but one has to analyze air flow requirements and components that achieve them in order to know what to buy. I can recommend parameters that will achieve sufficient air flow in most cases, particularly including hot oil cooking. These are the same as recommended in myriad topics here over the past decade or so, and should have been reviewed when thoughts of kitchen ventilation first occurred. High school math is needed. In summary, for capture the hood has to overlap the rising and expanding (i.e., conical) cooking plumes that are emitted over the surfaces of pots and pans. A 10-degree angle to vertical may be used.* Side cabinets should aid capture and allow a small reduction in hood width. Cooking odorous stuff in the cooktop center can help. Front-to-back "depth" has similar requirements, except that for wall placements, the wall acts as an extended capture boundary. So ideally, for a 36-inch cooktop, that may have front pan edges at 18 to 20 inches from the wall, a 22-inch or greater hood depth is desirable. The 3-inches each side is desirable. Note that the rising plumes are also susceptible to cross drafts and turbulence from human movement, so bigger than the cone limit is better the higher one sets the hood base. For containment, the air velocity entering the base aperture of the hood has to be high enough to ensure that all effluent is entrained into the flow that goes through the baffles. This varies with the plume velocity, the volume under the baffles, and general configuration of internal reflecting surfaces. I recommend 90 ft/min across the area of the hood base, and this translates to 90 CFM per square foot of hood entry aperture. For blower rating, the fan curve of the blower has to be accounted for vs. pressure losses (air friction) of baffles, hood transitions, ducts, wall or roof caps, and of course, the make-up air (MUA) balance vs. house pressure. As alluded to way up this thread, a factor of 1.5 times the required containment flow rate determined from the paragraph above may suffice if the MUA is sufficient. Duct diameter should keep full power flow velocity (duct CFM/duct sectional area) in the range of 1000 to 2000 ft/min. MUA I will defer for now. Comments (14)We absolutely love our Bosch induction range purchase 2017. I did a review on it after purchase here and there is a long thread of comments from that post: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/4725146/brief-review-of-newest-bosch-induction-range-hiip055u#n=116 we don’t have issues with the electronic control layout; like anything you get the hang of it. It is nice to have no knobs to clean. We are particularly in love with the flex zone which was hard to find on a range top in 2017. The control board did die at one year and was replaced without problem under warranty. We have had no electrical problems or any problems whatsoever with the machine since. Comments (8)In terms of seeing appliances in person, I think it really depends because there are some aspects of functionality that really should be viewed in person. I had no particular need to see my Bosch dishwasher in person since I knew what it was going to be like based on the on line descriptions. When I bought my first *real* dishwasher years ago I did want to see dishwashers in person so that I had a better sense of what the different options were like. I have the Bosch Benchmark side opening oven which I really like. I did want to see that in person but I would have been fine to order it on-line. However I was glad to have found it at a place near me and I could check out the telescoping rack. Refrigerators were a completely different issue as there are some many possible variations in terms of how the interior space could be used and refrigerators were actually the most difficult appliance for me to select as all of the others were easy to nail down because they had very specific features within my budget - e.g. Bosch side opening wall oven; Bosch induction cooktop with burner configuration as well as controls that didn't make you cycle through. So I went to view refrigerators repeatedly in person to to get a sense of what it would be like to actually use specific refrigerators. Luckily I was able to find a refrigerator (KA) which had the features I wanted available in person to look at and compare with a good number of other refrigerators. Looking at refrigerators on-line solely (in my experience) is not sufficient. I am really happy with my Bosch Benchmark side opening oven. However when I was researching appliances there seemed to be advice that getting a double oven was not necessarily the wisest choice since failure of one might mean both of the ovens would need to be replaced. I have a microwave drawer as I have limited space but if I had a large kitchen with room for two ovens I would probably go with a second oven that had different functionality like a steam oven....See Morelcrouter
