Purchased GE Cafe AND Jenn Air Pro-Style appliances!
Comments (3)I have the Jenn Air pro style range and like it very much. The control pad is a bit complicated but after a couple of weeks I have figured it out and it is easy now to use and remember. THe oven preheats very quickly and the burners are quite powerful...at least for me. If your knobs are rubbing it is simple to correct -- remove the knob , loosen the screw holding the ring around the knob, and shift the ring a little bit up, down or to the side. It may take a couple of tries to be sure the ring is in the right place....See MoreAppliance Package w/ Gas Range
Comments (7)dndsmom, At that price level you can get a beautiful Italian pro-style range. European ranges come with smaller ovens. But they are quite attractive and are of good quality. You can get a Bertazzoni Professional X304GGV or a Verona VEFSGG30SS. Most people here prefer the Bertazzoni or "Berta." If you search threads here for Bertazzoni you will find my postings making fun of the small Berta oven. I am looking to get a red range. Berta plus color is just about the same price as Bluestar with color. About $4k. And the Bluestar has a huge oven that fits a full size pro baking sheet. Plus powerful 22k burners. The 30" SS Berta is about $2700 delivered. Color adds about $700. There is a recent surge of interest for the NXR. It is a Chinese made pro-style range half the cost of the American made ranges. When it comes it health, safety, food preperation I prefer to steer clear of Chinese made products. Especially for $2K....See MoreNew home appliance package
Comments (5)If you are looking to get any deals on any of the brands you listed, you are really not going to find any. Those brands have fixed pricing, meaning dealers are given the price they must charge by the manufacturer. I think as you read through the threads on this forum and the kitchens forum, you will find very few people stick to just one manufacturer for all of their appliances.. Most have several brands and do not try to come up with a kitchen that has only one brand as not all manufactures are good at making all appliances. \Personally, I think your budget is realistic for just appliances, especially if you want to go with good appliances and not just one brand. I noticed you do not have any ovens listed. Are you thinking a 48" range and not just a range top? Depending on your space, many people go with double wall ovens and separate cooktops. If you have just begun shopping, I would go to a large appliance dealer who sells many different brands, both upscale and average joe appliances. Home depot EXpo sells viking, wolf, thermador as well as ge and whirlpool. almost all brands. I would also try to find a place that allows cooing demos on the range or cooktop as well as one that has vents hooked up for you to use. It is worth the effort as many convection ovens are very loud, as well as the vents, but you won't know that unless you use them. You might also want a high output range, but find that you don't like standing over the hot ovens and cooking at the same time. I would really take the time to look through the finished kitchens blog too as you can look at the specific appliances you have in mind already installed in someones finished kitchen. You can ask specific people questions about their appliances from their sites too. It is important to pick the appliances before completing a kitchen layout as the appliances you choose will help determine the cabinet layout . Good luck, and read and shop a lot before making any choices. ( I am getting Fisher paykel double ovens, and induction cooktop, Miele dishwasher, Whirlpool Velos microwave, and a GE french door refirgerator. I determinded what would work best for me and nothing matches!)...See MoreBest Affordable Pro Style Gas Range?
Comments (20)Hi Jennie - we have a Kitchenaid counter depth. It’s now 12 years old now so this is not current info for you. It has broken down twice. The inside cannot be easily configured and there really is not a lot of storage. I think it’s about 24 cu ft. We at first couldn’t find someone to repair it and looked at replacing it. To avoid messing with the cabinets it would have been a $12k fridge to fit the space. I hated being locked into the space restrictions and did not want to replace or re-do the cabinets. Luckily we found someone who had a rebuilt “motherboard” (not sure if that’s the correct term) for $2200 so we repaired. Ultimately, I feel it’s just a waste of money, especially these days when appliances don’t last. Perhaps SubZero is still good or other premium brands. But the SZ we looked at that might fit was $16k. We found nice fridges for under $4k but of course they would not fit. I have had terrible luck with all my Kitchenaid appliances as they all broke down at one point in the past years. I think I can blame it on a special “builders package” offered when the home was built. But I’m burned now and, right or wrong, I personally won’t buy Kitchenaid again. Good luck to you!...See MoreJeffrey R. Grenz, General Contractor
