Can I do Calacatta subways with Calacatta countertops?
Comments (4)What I found when considering this (albeit with Carrara) is that the marble that gets made into tiles is often a lot busier and "dirtier" than whats sold in slabs for counters. So they didn't look so good together. (I ended up using white subways with my carrara counters.) I actually used Calacatta Gold mosaic tile in my bathroom, and although it's gorgeous, there is a very wide color variation, with a lot of imperfections, in the tile that you don't see in slabs. I think if you searched carefully you could probably find the right slab/tile combo and if the rest of the kitchen were thoughtfully designed around them it might be great... but it's not as simple as it seems at first :)...See MoreSuper white / calacatta quartzite countertop - cleaning? Staining?
Comments (20)Hi Lisa. Happy fourth. We just had calacatta lux installed five days ago. Love the look. The horror stories on Houzz however are frightening. Water beads as was promised on counter when they sealed but edge near sink discolored from droplets. It did fade away in about an hour. Have you had any problems or did you have any staining? How was it processed? Ours came the day after it was cut and hoping down the road I don’t experience the edge stains. Anything you can add is very helpful. Thank you again. Your kitchen looks fantastic! After reading all this I’d be grateful to hear your experience. Tks!...See MoreHelp! what white cabinet color to match calacatta laza
Comments (15)I’m just here looking for other people’s opinions to see if that would help determine if these two match. Yes, we can determine if a paint color and an object - in your case a counter top - relate in terms of color. There's a process to follow, however, so it's a specific color strategy and not abstract guessing while standing in a paint store. We qualify the relationship on the three psychological dimensions of color hue, value and chorma. Using a standard light source called D65. We can also check it under other light sources. The science rule of thumb is if the color "match" or relationship works under 2 to 3 light source models, like daylight D65 and standard incandescent (in science terms called Illuminant A), then it's highly likely that the color relationship - the colors will go together - under ANY light source. This has nothing to do with photos of anything, btw. In order to do this, we need the color data values, the color measurement from the granite sample itself. You would do this using a Color Muse. We do this all day, every day here at The Land of Color. Because we understand everyone isn't an interior designer. Many need a framework to follow to figure out color conundrums. You just need to understand - and it sounds like you do - that your granite sample may not be exact to the slab that ends up installed. I've never personally seen that be that big of an issue, meaning the color appearance from sample to slab is usually close enough that the paint colors identified based on the sample work....See MoreWhich one works Calacatta Venice or Calacatta Trevi for Kitchen?
Comments (4)Both would require skill to pattern match, but the stronger pattern would be more obvious if perhaps the pattern could not be matched due to lack of materials. It really boils down to your personal preference, though, which one you like better. Be sure to view the actual slab before fabrication, because patterns like that can vary greatly from slab to slab....See MoreFlo Mangan
