Medigap Plans F and C Go Away for 2020
Comments (13)sushipup1 -- DH and I pay $87 and $85 monthly ($2064/year) for our Plan F high deductible coverage from BCBS. We've had this coverage for about seven years. Most years we were out only that $2064 for our premiums and only about $400 out of pocket total between us. Medicare-approved pricing knocked our 20% down to peanuts. We were covered for big expenses beyond a $2100 deductible, but were only out $2464 on the year. Once, In 2016, I paid the entire deductible on my policy and the policy paid a few hundred beyond that. That year we were out $4364 total. Averaging over seven years, we've paid $2735 out of pocket per year -- policy and out of pocket -- for two seniors. Hard for any non-high-deductible to beat that HDF. The HDF premiums or deductible will have to increase a LOT for us to move to a straight Plan G. Am I correct that you are paying $5856 total for two Plan F policies? Have they saved you much? I know that not everyone has our (very minimal until now!) out of pocket expenses....See MoreFavorite Watermarked Daylilies of 2020
Comments (21)Nancy - You have quite a Davisson collection going there. Tahiti Sweetie and Abby Davisson appeal to me, mainly because I don't have anything that looks like them. I have Mister Mayor and High Watermark, and really like those.. Make It Snappy has fabulous color in your photo, but it doesn't look like a UF in your photo. It strikes me as more of a tweener. Is Loud Girls a new one for you? I like its looks too. Here's one of my Davissons I haven't posted yet: Confessions of a Hemaholic - It's multiplied well but was still much shorter than it should be with low bud count. It's planted next to a white, so I suspect grubs were the problem. I like its looks, and I got some seeds from it that I'm excited about. Mister Mayor was new for me as a single fan this year.. Is yours new too? I wish it had those blue colors that Celeste's has. I think I'll be wowed by it when it clumps up a bit. . Debra...See MoreDaylilies With Stippling, Streaks or Stripes 2020
Comments (10)We don't have any spotted daylilies. We have one stippled one and two striped ones. Explosion in the Paint Factory is one everyone is familiar with. Pink Stripes is another well-known striped one. We are supposed to have another striped one, Augie's Unique Beauty. It has not done well for us (in fact, it almost died) and when it produced its one flower this past season, it was plain yellow. I read that Augie's Unique Beauty will revert to all yellow. I guess we will have to buy it again to get the striped one. The only stippled one we have is Dappled Dynamo. It is well named because it keeps on blooming (it's a bud builder). It's a small flower, nothing amazing but it keeps blooming late in the season. We do have one striped seedling. It is Iwanna Piranha X Horsing Around. We wish there was greater contrast between the two colors. That's all I have. Nancy...See MoreFavorite Double Daylilies of 2020
Comments (16)While the 'doubles' aren't my favorite category, they have their place in my garden. I don't actively seek them out any more but did acquire a few to have some variation. Some people love them and some people don't. I am somewhere in between. I like to have a little bit of everything! I have kept the following because of their good performance in my zone 4 garden. Of those already posted, my favorites are: Flash of Mischief, Solar Blast, Krakatoa Katie and Blue Pearl. Siloam Double Classic is always pretty wherever it grows. Old Time Italian looks cool as a double. I gave away (to Kate, I think?) King Kahuna, because he always took forever to rebound from my winters. But I did enjoy that sunny yellow double while I had it. HOLIDAY PARTY (the colors are gaudy but this is one of my most prolific bloomers and an extremely healthy & hardy plant) UNEXPECTED EXTRA DELTA'S DREAM MOSES' FIRE (this one multiplies so fast I have to split it every year and everyone in my family/friends have a clump of it now....LOL) ZADA MAE SCATTERBRAIN (with Zada Mae) NIGHT EMBERS...See Moresherrygirl zone5 N il
