Favorite Watermarked Daylilies of 2020
Post your favorite dayliliies with watermarks here. Watermarks are defined as having a zone above the flower's throat which is lighter in color than the petal color. The next category will be toothy daylilies.
I've posted a lot of my favorite watermarked daylilies in various color categories, so I'll post some I left out before. If you want to post some you've posted before or different photos of those already posted, go ahead.
Browns Ferry Queen of Hearts - The sepals are not usually lighter than the petals. The deer deterrent bleaches them in my garden.

3 years agoBeautiful group of watermarks, Debra. I think my favorite would have to be Browns Ferry Queen of Hearts.
We like watermarks but don't have nearly as many as we do eyes. Here are a few that we grow.
I could have put Candy Queen in the toothy section but since we have so many of these, I will put it in the watermark section. It has been slow to get established, but wowed us with its bloom this past season.
Change of Heart has been here for many years but usually gets overlooked. It does have a striking watermark.
Delinquent Doll was new this past season.
I really like the colors of Highly Venomous.
Royal Extravaganza has performed better than we had hoped. It's a showy flower.
Shirley Koch was a gift from the hybridizer to our daughter. It's a great grower in our garden.

Shirley Koch is a lovely daylily from Canada.
Sweet Isabela is a great performer in our garden.
Now for a few seedlings. We were excited about this orange with a watermark and teeth.

I would add that one if I was sure it wouldn't double. Lilacs is a beauty. Kathy -- I haven't seen any rust survey. I have tons of watermarks I grow and would recommend, but I'm not sure if they're rust-resistant. And your photo of Passion District is beautiful (and much prettier than mine). Rick -- You have exquisite taste -- I grow almost all of the ones you posted! Yours is the best photo of Jackie's Choice I've seen, so it just went on my wish list. Kay -- My Indian Giver doesn't have a noticeable watermark, either, although Passion District does have a slight one here. Debra -- I bet it was hard to post watermark photos without including those Hansons! Lovely Diane has been on my wish list for a while (along with Lovely Dianthus, which I can't find anywhere). Claudine's Charm was new this year and was a great addition. I also added other Sellers cvs with great watermarks -- Midnight Oasis and Another Night. Reforma Boulevard needs to be moved because it hasn't bloomed in two years. I did a search on Tinker's and looked through all 148 pages with "watermark" in the color description. I did find quite a few I hadn't heard of, but don't see them listed for sale through a Google search. Does anyone grow these? Comments (33)I like lavenders, although they tend to be more on the mauve side for me (but then I like mauve too). Way too many to comment on each but these stand out: Sherry: Why I don't have these yet is beyond me. There's a reason they are treasured daylilies from the past: Lavender Stardust and Trahlyta......Celeste: the Queen of purples and lavenders, if there's one UF that I still think about adding *(IIHR) it's Ocean Spirit. It looks good for eveyrone......Kate: I grew Ava Gardener and this Smith daylily had such wonderful form. Most Smith daylilies don't last for me, fading away in their pot after a couple of years, and she was no exception. For anyone else, she's a good one to trial...........Debra: Did I ask this question before? Royal Invitation has drawn my eye for 3 years now, but the bud count is lousy at 10-15. No More Tears has the same bud count but produces many more blooms for me then listed (and that's not rebloom, just regular bloom). So how does it do for you. Remember I have lots of acreage so I don't have to cull and some of these are older while some are newer ones. This list does not include my very first purchases which were of course mainly yellow!! Comments (29)Kate - Thanks for comment about the Karelia seedling! I need to give it more space to see if can get more buds. Last season is had 15 buds on one scape and 12 on the other. I think it could do better than that if not surrounded by taller seedlings. It did increase to five fans last season, so I'm looking forward to more scapes next year. If you want to post more eyed and edged daylilies, go ahead. Our friends didn't have many. That's why I went overboard - to make up the difference, or maybe I'm just greedy. Baby Blue Eye, another bonus plant I’m glad I receive, the blooms seem bluer than the photos show.
Bluegrass Memories is fairly new here. It benefits from some shade here, blooms melted in all day sun.
A little education and I have Claudine’s Charm in the right category. This bloom will always be in my garden.
Gently Down the Stream is still being evaluated here, it was moved and wasn’t too happy. This was a bonus plant, blooms are flawless so far.
Forever Redeemed is fairly new Here.
Itza Pink Teddy has been a great performer here, it has rebloomed.

3 years agoCeleste and Sherry, that's a beautiful bunch of daylilies. I like them all but Jelly Roll Morton and Undercurrent catch my eye. Tahlequah Flame is beautiful too. We grow it, but it hasn't done so well recently. It was moved last season so hopefully it will be happier this next season.
Here are the rest of my seedlings.
Please forgive the leaf at the front of the photo. This was a shot I cropped to bring the flowers in closer. This is a favorite seedling of ours, but we are on the fence about registering it. It's a great grower, but the bud count is a little low (about 11 or 12). It does show instant rebloom though and seems to put on quite a display. It is Belle of Ashwood X Shores of Time.
This is Glass Rose X Patricia Ann's Calliopsis. We were going for a bitone but didn't get it.
Gus Townsend X Desire of Nations was lovely this past season. It has a short scape with not that many buds. It's too bad the plant isn't better. We will probably keep it because it's so pretty.
This is Ruffled Strawberry Parfait X (Horns X Sea of Cinders). It looks like it might be a future introduction. It has scapes with a nice height and it's a late bloomer.

3 years agoNancy - You have quite a Davisson collection going there. Tahiti Sweetie and Abby Davisson appeal to me, mainly because I don't have anything that looks like them. I have Mister Mayor and High Watermark, and really like those.. Make It Snappy has fabulous color in your photo, but it doesn't look like a UF in your photo. It strikes me as more of a tweener. Is Loud Girls a new one for you? I like its looks too.
Here's one of my Davissons I haven't posted yet:
Confessions of a Hemaholic - It's multiplied well but was still much shorter than it should be with low bud count. It's planted next to a white, so I suspect grubs were the problem. I like its looks, and I got some seeds from it that I'm excited about.
Mister Mayor was new for me as a single fan this year.. Is yours new too? I wish it had those blue colors that Celeste's has. I think I'll be wowed by it when it clumps up a bit.

3 years agoI love this category. There are so many here to love. White Eyes Pink Dragon is always a stand out; though I'm not into toothed ones, Candy Queen has beautiful color!
Benchmark, though the halo is just barely there in this particular bloom.
