Help picking out a free flowering single yellow
Comments (9)I was also going to recommend Charles Grimaldi or Dr.Seuss just because of their "old reliable" status, but correct me if I am wrong....don't the blooms kind of get an orange tinge to them as they age on these two. I was going to also recommend Andrew's Gold if you can find one. I don't know a source for it since SS closed. Keep in mind that I have not seen any of these bloom, I am just going from pics of them and discussions. I think country gardens introduced some new yellows recently. I hope you find what you want. Hard to choose just one, lol. Shawn Here is a link that might be useful: Country Gardens...See MoreNeed help picking a paint color for these yellow curtains
Comments (7)I think it would really depend on what other type elements you have in your room and surrounding rooms (flooring, furniture, art, etc.) and what particular style or feel you are going for. Then, decide on what color(s) appeal to you. One of the easiest ways, as Brutuses mentioned, is to pull one from the drapery fabric and then have it color matched at the paint store. Also, if you have a particular color in mind, there are a ton of talented folks here who could help you choose just the right one. Do you have more pictures of the room and surrounding areas where the drapes will be hung? That will help tremendously if you want help here....See MoreWhoops! Picked the wrong color for my red-orange floor!
Comments (15)The light fixture is the only piece with a "personality" and that's going to go, so I can't tell how contemporary or classic your taste is. This is still a nearly neutral canvas to make a masterpiece upon. Red and green are complimentary and they do work, but the room is still too stark. How about a stencil band of red along the edge of the green walls, about 2 inches from the edge? If you could also add some items into the mix, that would help--a fabric that uses the red and green, some houseplants with pots that put these colors onto the countertop, towels and washcloths, stool cushions, silicone spatulas, fruit bowl. Rugs are a good idea. Paint the legs of a stool or chair? Get some brightly colored croton plants [strong colored leaves] to put near the kitchen. You might also want to introduce a strong mustard yellow, if that's a good color for you. There are a lot of linens with this combo--I just saw plaid napkins with large checks of these colors marketed at Tuesday Morning store as "Christmas merchandise." If that's a recessed refrig. with a flat panel above it, consider a fairly substantial work of art over it, with your colors in it. I'd avoid white in the printed fabrics and art pieces, I think, but I reserve the right to change my mind. Can you use a reddish-value light? There are a lot of interesting ones, including some with reddish glass mosaics in them. For example, Elk lighting has some good ones....See MoreNeed help picking Color for LR Sofa, Curtains and carpet
Comments (9)I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my living room. Knew the colors I was going to paint, the flooring I was going to put in and the color of he sofa. Then I went sofa shopping. I needed a 3x2 sectional for my living room (large room). I went to several stores that sold higher end furniture - wanted something that would last. One of the stores had a sofa that was the exact size that I wanted sitting in their back room - the person who ordered the sofa refused delivery - didn't care for the color. I got the sofa at 60% off. It is cream colored. I was planning on light walls and a darker gray sofa . . . Since I had not painted the walls yet I could make this purchase with little angst. Had I already painted I would have most likely still purchased the sofa as it was a much better sofa than I could have afforded without the discount and I would have re-painted the walls....See MoreSJ McCarthy
