Laundry Room Design Dilemma

Miele T1 or Little Giant or Whirlpool full-sized ventless WED7990FW

Is anyone using any of these, and will the Miele ones (either one) dry a king-sized duvet cover and anything else at the same time? Does the Whirlpool dryer work? I have moved someplace I can no longer vent a dryer. I am doing a kitchen renovation and want machines in the apartment. There are machines in the basement in case I need to wash an actual comforter, but I have weekly duvet cover and towels to get washed and dried. I am wary of compact machines having used them in Europe, don't know which, but they've always been horrible.

Any advice is appreciated!

I have no issue drying a king size duvet cover in the T1. I can also fit the sheets and pillowcases in along with the duvet cover, but I like to dry the duvet cover separately to reduce wrinkling. The Bed Linens dry cycle with reverse tumbling works well. I was pleasantly surprised at how much the W1/T1 could actually hold when I first got them. Lots of towels also not an issue.

Sorry, it looks like the Whirlpool one has been discontinued. Maybe that says it all!

I have had Miele washer from early 1980:s and there have never been any problems. Miele came with automatic level control late 80's early 90's. That was when they gave up the 1/2 option button. I have said this before and I think that nost washers are underused in capacity, a Miele washer you can pack the drum full and the washresult are great, a bit more wrinkles but thats it. Miele is the only washer I ever used that never had any problems spinning even very hard to spinn loads like area ruggs or pillows.

Bloomberg, Asko and Samsung make vented compact dryers. Well, the only one on that list I would consider is Samsung. GE is a much more reliable brand when it comes to laundry. Incidentally, we had a bedding disaster and the Bosch 800 handled a queen size quilt with no issues. All traces of unmentionables are indeed gone and the bedding is dry and ready for use. I‘m very happy with the Bosch 800 set, even though the dryer is condensing and not vented. My neighbor with the dry we’ll still loves his Asko washers. To each their own....

Just to share. Since I purchased a Miele W1 I could no longer use the King size comforter I was using. This is what I purchased at it washes very well on Normal cycle in my W1. There is some room to give in drum. I would advise to only use water plus without max rinse level. Miele is farming some service out to local servicers. I spoke with thr professional sales reps and he said it is extremely hard to retain good servicemen. We had our dishwasher repaired under warranty once. It is a Miele Crystal. The mainboard failed. we had about 4000 hours on it in a couple years. The guy who fixed it was able to tear it down and called miele who walked him through the diagnostic steps. They then sent a main board. Tech came back two weeks later and installed. The delay was more the local shops fault. They only come to our area once a week. We could have had Miele come from chicago, but they charge mileage if uour more than 50 miles from their service center. we are 120 miles away. I wouldnt be too hung up about getting official Miele service. They have always taken care of us one way or another.

The only experience I have had with ventless is the all in one W/D in London and honestly it took all day to do a load and the wrinkles were horrible. Maybe the separate pieces will be better though.

Whirlpool appears to have gotten out of the business of vented dryers already, but thanks. Wish the news was different, but seems pretty standard.

I see two 27" ventless dryers by Whirlpool: the WHD862CHC and the WHD560CHW.

The WHD862CHC is still listed on the Home Depot website but is back-ordered until mid-February. I'd confirm with Whirlpool that it is still in production. It scored very low in Consumer Reports testing, only "fair" in drying but appears to be the only choice for a non-vented, full-sized dryer.

The Miele T! would fit a king duvet cover. Drying results are way above old school condenser units. Little Giants are very expensive and I don't think you would need one unless you had some specialized laundry needs

OMG @cal I did not know about the Bed Linen cycle on the dryer until you mentioned it. Totally solved my bundled and wrinkled sheets problem! Thank you!!!!

@scottie mom Glad it's working well for you! I also love the pillows cycle, I use that for heavier items that need extra drying, things like mattress pads or even heavy jackets.

We have had our Little Giants for almost ten years now. I wash horse blankets regularly, and the washer is the one appliance I would never give up.

I would go for any of the dryers that have the reverse tumble. It’s nice as it won’t tumble wrap your sheets and bedding into a semi dry ball.

edit:: It seems this was already mentioned. Sorry I didn’t read, but I’ll second that feature it’s really nice one of those things that once you’ve used it you don’t wanna go back.

Still pondering this question. Whirlpool updated their ventless dryers in 2019: Whirlpool WHD862CHC is the silver one. I don't think it reverse tumbles, but it is full-size. There are only two reviews (from Whirlpool originally) repeated on all sales websites. Anyone have a comment regarding Miele's smaller reverse tumble vs. Whirlpool full-sized machines (which would enable a full-sized washer also)? Thanks again!
