Schluter strip sticks out further than tile. Wrong size? Poor install?
Comments (27)The profile is not even resting on tile properly in the #3 pic regardless who bought it A few hiring tips for anyone reading , Always ask the prospective tiler whos going to install, is it you yourself or do you send in the B team , the C team etc. Secondly you will know when you have a tile pro in your home, they will start getting less and less interested when you start declining having them order purchase and supply every last bit of tile related material for the project its not always about profiting or markup but more about risk and having a smooth project , this also puts the liability in your favor when things backfire vs attempting to shave a cost. One must ask themselves if they know enough about the tile business to be qualified to guage the prospective hires "knowledge"as well as select and purchase the correct materials . There is so many new products, methods , industry standards and a million hacks out there coming in with low rates willing to engage in sharing liability be very careful in the hiring process. @OP youve got the C team and i think the B team is on vacation here...See MoreContractor used wrong color grout. Comments (43)Well since so many people replied to this thought i'd provide an update for those who might care. Contractor stepped up and agreed it was his fault and dug out white and replaced the gray. I like it a lot better. It does show the imperfections that you don't see with the white but i prefer the tile definition and think it goes better with the gray walls....See MorePlease provide advise wrong grout color was used on new flooring
Comments (8)The photo shows now. If they used a different color than was specified in the contract then that’s their mistake. Perhaps someone here can suggest a solution that doesn’t involved pulling up the tile. Did they do any test samples for you? Were you on site when they started the grout work so you could see the color ? I’m no pro but we recently redid a bathroom, total gut job, and the tile guy had me look at the grout as he started, just to make sure it looked as I expected. The grout looked different when seen against my tile compared to the sample, partly because of 5he specific lighting in the bathroom. As he started to grout, we realized that the colr wasn’t an ideal choice ( athough close) and he tweaked the color a bit....See MoreWrong grout installed and supposed to close on home soon. Help!
Comments (23)@thinking99 I’ve read & reread your issue, looked at your pictures and pondered the responses to you. @Helen reply best describes my thoughts on your issue. On the one hand, I really do empathize with you. You’re spending buckets of $$, have likely spent countless hours choosing materials and finishes and want things to be just perfect. I went through that in 2012 when my current home was being built. Last year, we had some remodeling done in kitchen, master & guest baths which included some new tile work & regrout of existing tile. What I learned from the remodel (managed by a GC) is to roll with the punches when accidents & errors are made by the trades doing the work. I know that lighting (adjusting light bulb color makes a huge difference) dye lots etc. do affect the final color result of most of the finishes used in homes & that holds true with both tile & grout. I, like other responders, cannot see the difference in grout colors in your pics & the result in the wrong grout pic looks great. What I can tell you from my tile regrouting experience is that there's a high likelihood your new, irregular edge tiles will not survive unscathed, without a scratch or chip. That will be much worse than a grout color difference that no one will ever notice unless you point it out & they spend time comparing. So, I do really agree with @Helen - accept it and add to your favor bank....See Morelilacblumen
