would this look good on my peninsula?
Comments (4)My kitchen is more traditional. I don't want a long bar type. I would think 2 seperate Amber color pendants about 12 inches apart but it won't be centered. It will be 15 inches from the overhang side instead of 18 inches if I want to center it. I can't because the cabinet door would be on the way when I open it. Would the lights not being centered on the width be okay or would it look weird? I don't know how to post pictures. In fact, I had to go to CVS to develop pictures to send....See MoreWould wicker look good on my porch?
Comments (13)Thanks cyn - the porch is 7ft deep. We gain a little space by having no railing (it's only 18" high except at the end where we did need to put a railing). I don't know that we could have put a coffee table in front of a LS though. Might have to put things on angles. I just don't want chairs lined up along the wall like Cracker Barrel! I would love to have a deep porch/sunroom like NHB and natal. Silly me, 7ft seemed huge on paper (with no experience to go by). There is one house in neighboring town I absoultely love - wide front porch with stone walls/planting beds and stone steps in front going down to front lawn with a pond. I think I love it so much b/c the porch is so big and has so much furniture you can tell it's made for entertaining. But extending the porch or stairs on ours would mean pulling out stonework and plants - not sure I'm up to that since we've spent the past 2 years putting them in. Our porch is just for us sitting out with coffee watching the birds in AM (though it's west), sitting and shucking corn in summer evenings, etc. Maybe we can build a big screened porch/sunroom out back instead of a deck off the FR/kitchen. But that's another post/another project. I'll just have to keep looking for front porch furniture - any idea on size/depth/arrangement of furniture to avoid the "Cracker Barrel" look? NHB - I love both your houses, you have done an awesome job designing and decorating. What did you ever decide to do with curtains in your DR?...See MoreWhat color table would look good here?
Comments (5)I would go with black. I think white would be too jarring with the rest of your stone, countertops, wall color, and back splash-none of which seem to have any white at all, but are more earthy in tone. Love your double fireplace. I would like to alter ours between the living room/dining room into one like yours. Very pretty spaces and I think your table idea will be great!...See MoreWhat bar stool would look good with my dining chairs?
Comments (2)Depending on your family and life style I would avoid fabric covered anything. The dining room seems to be significantly easier to keep chairs really clean in vs the stools at an island in my experience. For us when we did our kitchen which is open to the dining area I wanted the stools to be very low profile and not be the star. I wanted the island and the colour of it, which is a dark grey called iron mountain to be the star. As a result our stools are actually chrome bottoms and then acrylic see through on the top. With three kids I need to wipe them often but everything always wipes off...I shudder to imagine if they were fabric!...See MoreMarge
