Finished Pictures! Old Farmhouse Kitchen
Comments (65)Danielle, This kitchen is amazing! I am getting very drawn to the Crown Point frameless as I am finding, like you, that the regular cabinet lines are just not period kitchen friendly. I think I saw in another thread that you said your CP cabinets are much better quality than Omega/Dynasty etc. I just looked at Omega tonight and several details on them depressed me. Now I don't know how I am going to do my "budget" kitchen if even what is supposed to be a decent line does not meet my vision. The problem is the period kitchen business - I am going to find it so hard to put in "modern" cabinets. I looked at CP website and I am wondering what your drawer boxes are made from on the frameless - are they wood or are they metal? Are you happy with them? I was thinking of a painted off white kitchen but yours is making me reconsider and if as you say the oak is more economical then maybe it would be an answer for my problem. I am quite drawn too to their "transitional" line as it looks cottagey cute in a period kind of way. Congratulations on a WONDERFUL kitchen, one of the nicest I have seen on here....See MoreShare your (non-art) art
Comments (57)I have thoroughly enjoyed browsing all the photos and reading the stories of your collections here. Such beautiful pieces and wonderful, touching stories. To see most of mine, you'd think my home was full of antiques, which is far from the real deal, but these seem to be most of my most interesting non-art things. However, some of you have given me some ideas for things I could do in the future with things I have stored! This is a small collection of silver vases, albeit in need of some polish right now. My collection of miniature tea sets. This started with my aunt giving me her much-used Mickey Mouse set she had used back in the 30's as a child and a then-new set when I was about 8-years old (the blue and white delft set). The rest is a mix of old and new I picked up along the way as an adult. I also have a lot of old hankies that belonged to my grandmother and great-grandmother, and yes I use them at weddings and funerals. They made some of them, including the tatting on the edges. Gallery hallway of family photos (old and new) To honor our home states (Alabama and Ohio) I started looking for old maps of our states and regions. This is one of Alabama and of the Eastern US in our breakfast room. The next one is an Agricultural map of Ohio. I think I've posted enough. Thanks for viewing. BTW, those clocks are awesome! And I adore that mirror, and I can't say enough about that belly cast!...See MoreHelp with farmhouse kitchen--Mexican tile backsplash?
Comments (20)nidnay, we LOVE our wood counters. They are milled from a local western maple that came down in a storm, and a local furniture maker laminated the wood up for us into counters. They are finished in Rubio Monocoat, which is a foodsafe "hard oil" product that has bonded with the maple incredibly well. We definitely don't let water drops sit beside the faucets, and it is a worry for me, but so far, no issues. We had a small bottle early on that sat in a little water for several days before we noticed, and it did leave a small stain. But we only have to do a spot sand and re-oil and it will disappear. After a full-house gut and re-build, the counters are one of my very favorite elements in the whole place....See MoreThe art consultant sent me a proposal for art in my living room! WDYT?
Comments (65)This OP has posted several dilemmas lately. I started reading this one from the onset and yes, there are several of the more critical posts missing. She clearly was happy about the selections and appeared to want validation from the people that had helped her with her other dilemmas. One of the first comments on my first dilemma on here was devastating to me and left me very upset. Fortunately, I have a thick skin and just flagged it and then along came some wonderful people to help me. Sometimes certain contributors just go too far. I’ve seen many OPs run off from this forum, but this is the first I’ve seen someone completely delete their account. THINK before you comment people! You could make or break someone’s day with your words...See MorePam A
