I really cannot say except to ask you where you are? A place with sunny winters or mostly grey?

I think it depends on what type of orchids and succulents you’re growing and how much light the window gets.

A lot of succulents will struggle in a window, jades and some Haworthia will do okay which lower light, others will start to stretch and drop leaves.

Phal orchids do well in lower light, if you place your hand between the light source and plant, about a foot above the plant, you should have a dull shadow. That should last for about 6 hours.

I actually know a few northerners that use that and their plants do fine. BUt still even in a brightly exposed south window in the deep of winter, the light is not enough to thrive.

perhaps installing some sort of netting (like against insects) will allow enough light thru, but will create a blur for the camera? cameras cannot focus properly when pointing at the nets/screens : they focus on the screen and loose focus on what's behind (your room view).

you probably can test this by putting some sort of screen netting temporary against the window and going outside and trying to take a video of the window..and see what you get.

there is also shade cloth for greenhouses (sold in garden centers) that has different grades of shading.

you can try getting the one that gets the most light thru. It'll prolly will act as a privacy curtain too. even the usual sheer curtains will fuzz up the camera focus.

then there are venetian blinds: when camera is pointing down, if you reverse them down towards outside they will block the view from top but allow enough light in .

same with vertical blinds: depending on camera angle you can position them sideways to cover the view in, but still get light from the other side. sun angle matters too, of course. but they allow the max light to come thru vertically.

last one :): you can install narrow glass shelves all down the window, so the plants and pots will block most of the view in when there are lots of them.

and you can alternate orchid pots with some sort of hanging down vines like pothos that can be on top shelf in small pots and hang down like a green curtain. it's quite pretty too.

blinds are the easiest solution though.

Are they legally allowed to have a camera pointed at your window? I would call your County Office and ask that question.

If they are allowed, I would just fill my window with lots of plants. The camera won't see anything but plants. At night, pull a shade.
