Will a small hanging fuschia grow in a south window???
Comments (9)Yep, freezing is 32F..Darn, -40 plus wc..geesh..Trace, wanna run away from home, bring out plants/pets and move somewhere warm? LOL..sometimes I feel like it..Everytime I think about moving, summer comes..and I think, oh I can handle it, but summers go by quick..can't believe it's June..what sucks is we had warmer days in May than June..it's cold outside..my heat went on yesterday and today..and still have yet to bring plants out..not to mention all the rain we've had..so the ground is muddy. I have to dig up weeds in gardens before placing plants out.. Why did our parents stay in such cold climates? LOL. I sometimes lurk on the Fl forum, and drool reading the comments..oh they are lucky, huricanes or not..lol..Toni...See MoreHouse plants that can handle a hot, south-facing garden window?
Comments (16)BB... Yep, please get a thermometer. It'll help. Body temps differ. For instance, my sister, Gloria is ALWAYS warm/hot, I'm the opposite, freezing. :) During winter, on holidays such as Christmas & New Year's, she runs the a/c. While cooking, she wears shorts, I'm in my coat. lol And I help prepare dinner/s. Plus bake desserts. I'm sure your garden window area gets hot, but leave the exact temp to a thermometer. Heck, they're even sold at Dollar Stores. Gasteria blooms are pretty but don't last long..Well, at least mine don't. Depends on Gasteria type. Did you know Jades bloom? Also, what is the second plant on the lower tier? Add some flowering and fragrant plants, and variegated for color. A lot can be done in your garden window. Comments (15)So, I had the COT in the wall pot for about 4 months, but recently moved them into my succulent dish to make it look better and to kinda keep all my succulents in one place. It's basically in the exact same exposure as it was here on the wall, but with a little more direct sunlight as the windows are longer and not obstructed by a roof. So thus again, I have an empty wall pot on the wall. I've tried looking for the other species suggested but found none of those. I guess I've miss judged the sunlight that enters my window as during the summer, almost no direct light enters my room while in late summer/fall/winter/spring, The wall pot plant would get full sun. I was thinking of moving it so it would allow me to plant a peacelily or other in there, but then I'd have a hole in the wall. So now I'm looking again. Are there any other types of plants beside succulents and Cacti that could go well here? The plant has to be a up grower and not trailing as of it were to trail it would trail directly below my window which gradually reduces the light levels. I'd put a sago Palm in it, but the top portion of the pot doesn't seem like a sago with its bulbous base could fit in there....See MoreNorth or South Facing Window? Where should house plants be?
Comments (11)It also depends on what kind of obstructions there might be near windows, what color the room is painted, etc. For example, I'm in the northern hemisphere where north-facing windows wouldn't necessarily be ideal, but one of mine is in a white room, and my neighbor's house across from the window is also white. A lot of light gets reflected and it's actually better than some of my south-facing windows. You can get light meter apps for your phone that help you assess how bright your light is in different locations....See MoreMarie Tran
