Sherwin Williams Alabaster paint looks very yellow-green
Comments (38)@MarylandHomebody that's true about the shirt, but we painted our kitchen Simply White and it looked green. We were painting over the previous owners dark green so of course at first we thought it was that. So we primed and painted again and still green. I hated it. Eventually we went with Opaline the same color we'd painted in the living and dining room. It's the palest blue/green/grey color. I love it and it completely got rid of the ugly shade of green we were seeing that I eventually figured out was a result of our green evergreens outside. I wouldn't have wanted to live with that ugly pea/yellow green and am so glad we repainted and didn't just take somebody else's opinion that it looks good when I knew inside it did not look good to us as that's ultimately what matters....See MoreSherwin Williams Paint Matching, are they really all the same?
Comments (186)@Jennifer Hogan We have compared SW's sample for Simply White with the sample we got from Home Depot for the Simply White (that we also have painted on the wall), as well as the trim that is from Kelly Moore (a local store) in Simply White. It "simply" doesn't match (pun intended). Honestly, the difference is so substantial that I can't fathom how they could consider it a match. The cheaper stuff from Home Depot is actually a much closer match than SW even got close to. Kelly Moore is the best match. SW tried today to match it closer and still failed. So, we are going to go back to Kelly Moore and pay a bit extra to get another sample in the eggshell (trim is semi-gloss) and compare it. Near certain it will be the homerun since they got it right on the trim, zero hint of green and all the trim has been painted throughout the house. I do appreciate it though & completely understand. I can even understand certain times of the day seeing more color but there is such a difference that my husband, who rarely notices colors, immediately asked why the walls were green and the trim was not. He thought I had bought 2 different colors of paint completely! It has been quite the saga. Long story short, the best thing to do when dealing with whites is to pick a color of white from the company you are using so that you know you'll be getting exactly what you pick, and not what they 'promise' they can match!...See MoreSherwin-Williams Alabaster white paint help!!!!
Comments (11)Lori A. Sawaya, I can't thank you enough for your time. I really truly appreciate it and your knowledge is Way Beyond mine. So thank you. Unfortunately, we have already met with the painter 3 times and we did view large samples up against the Alabaster. She suggested Pure White. I was torn between High Reflective white and Extra White. To be fair, she has given me ample time to make my decision but I just came across all this new color information too late in the game. I'm really down to deciding between one of the Sherwin-Williams whites. I spoke with her and she said the extra white has already been purchased. I already changed on her once because I first decided on High Reflective White. She let me change because she had another project that she said she could use it on for....someone who was painting their she shed and just wanted it any color white. She said she could be willing to swap out for that, but that's all she can do for me now. If she has to go get new paint for me again, I would have to pay for both colors even though I would only be using the one. I truly appreciate all of your time that you have taken to answer this question for me. Unfortunately, this time I waited too long and I'm just going to have to try to decide between the High reflective and the Extra White at this time....See MoreWhat are the best off-white paint colors from Sherwin Williams?
