My living room needs help!
Comments (9)I know TV watching is what we all do in these rooms but I really can't stand when a room SCREAMS that is what we do..all your furniture is orientated to the TV..when IMHO it should be facing each other for conversation ease. I also had those horrid vertical blinds in every home we ever purchased. I still remember when my MIL put them on her living room windows. I hated them then when they were all the rage and I hate them now BUT they are expensive and they work fabulously. I discovered hiding them behind immovable curtain panels gave the room the final dressing it needed and added the softness and color that is lacking in blinds. DH made me wood valances that hide all the rods....See MoreMy small beach house living room needs help!
Comments (10)I like those sleepers too; here we call them "clickers" or "click-clacks." They are hard to find, and most links take you to futons which are not the same thing. I have one in my vacation rental cabin. For your space, I would prefer a small scale sectional on the two wall sunder the windows. No curtains, but top down/bottom up shades where you can block roof top views or electric lines or all of it. Add a large storage coffee table. I like this one myself and it comes in a blonde finish too that might be better for the beach. Get a pair of floor lamps (not dated torchieres) for each end of the sectional. Then I would center the TV/FP on its wall and add one or two swivel chairs perpendicular to it. In the corner where you have the kitchen chairs, you might try a game table with a pair of chairs for checkers, chess, scrabble or monopoly. How about a new, more beachy wall color like Sea Salt to work with your sandy beach carpet? Last of all, upgrade your art and wall hangings. Here's info on the paint color. https://pizzazzerie.com/lifestyle/sherwin-williams-sea-salt-paint-color/...See MoreThis a 204 square foot living room. Need help with furniture placement
Comments (12)If some changes could be made to the interior, especially the kitchen, it might help woth furniture arrangement. Unfortunately, what I’m thinking would probably be undesirable for resale and hard-to-impossible to move furniture beyond the living room, but here it is anyway: Extend the island to one of exterior walls. On one side, it would force you to walk through the kitchen to go upstairs (what’s up there, by the way?). But, you could do this by simply placing a rolling island between the island and the wall. It keeps that from being a walkway, but is easily moved when desired. Or, on the other side, it would have you walking through the kitchen to get to the back bedroom, and the refrigerator would face the back hall. Anyway, either of these takes a walkway out of the living room, potentially allowing for furniture placement....See Moresmall living room needs help
Comments (11)I suggest that you look for an apartment sized sectional. Yes, they make them! Pottery Barn actually has a nice selection that you might be able to sit in and assess. You have some very nice pieces already that will go with the sectional. I would NOT get something in a dark fabric. Go with a linen look, cream or beige tweed. Neutral. Something that will go with a variety of colors. Cosy doesn’t mean dark. Light walls. Light linen draperies. Cosy is in the details of accessories. Art, etc. A rug. Create a design inspiration “book” here to show people what YOU like. I like your tv stand. Would use that as a jumping off point for design. A sectional is an investment piece. As is your rug for the space. $$$. Spend money on those pieces. You will live with them a long time. Build from that foundation. You have a good start…. Good luck!...See MoreJAN MOYER
