I would look for the smallest sectional you can find... I have a 90" with a chaise, and it's bigger than I expected. you don't want to fill up the room with just the sectional.

I would remove everything and choose only the prized items to return... every wall doesn't need something. Paint the whole room a light neutral My suggestion is SW Alabaster, great warm in low light.

Remove the light kit from the ceiling fan.

Use floor lamps for ambient lighting.

Look for your small-scale sectional in "Apartment-size sofa" sections. Choose a sofa that is low, cushy, up on legs, not too high in back. Your floor is dark, so choose a light neutral beige or ivory. As someone suggested, take out everything then put back what you love. Put your mirror next to the window to reflect the light and get a nice light art work for that rest of that wall. No clock in your relaxing room!

I suggest that you look for an apartment sized sectional. Yes, they make them! Pottery Barn actually has a nice selection that you might be able to sit in and assess. You have some very nice pieces already that will go with the sectional. I would NOT get something in a dark fabric. Go with a linen look, cream or beige tweed. Neutral. Something that will go with a variety of colors. Cosy doesn’t mean dark. Light walls. Light linen draperies. Cosy is in the details of accessories. Art, etc. A rug. Create a design inspiration “book” here to show people what YOU like. I like your tv stand. Would use that as a jumping off point for design. A sectional is an investment piece. As is your rug for the space. $$$. Spend money on those pieces. You will live with them a long time. Build from that foundation. You have a good start…. Good luck!

I see big chairs for 3-4 people. Is that typical in that room? Or are there usually only two of you and the occasional guest who doesn't stay long or need a nesting chair? If you get a sectional, it should be small, as mentioned above. For the one or two of you? and the guest chairs can be a smaller scale ("occasional" chairs), which will give you more room to maneuver.

I would also paint the ceiling molding the same as the wall color. Mount your tv on the wall using an reticulating bracket so you can move it around and get a less bulky credenza that is 1/3 larger than the tv. Like the idea of a sectional but don’t make it an overstuffed one and bulky. Also a light weight chair that can be move into the seating area for guests or put in a corner when not needed.

My vote for a lighter colored sectional. It looks like your side table, coffee table and tv stand all go together. I think all you need is the sectional and I would get some art for interest and a bit of color. Hopefully the fish tank can be displayed so you can see that when you are seated. I would do a sectional only, I don't think theres room for anything else. Small spaces can be so cozy.

You might consider not going with a sectional unless doing an apartment sized sectional. It also might be nice to go with something light and bright to help brighten your current space. Take a moment to look over this design we did for a client, which might help you more with your dilemma.
