Help with painting ceramic floor tile in entry
Comments (8)If the "paint store guy" could not give you the name of his product which he knows for a fact has been done successfully many times, how are we supposed to know? There are epoxy garage floor paints. they look like painted garage floors at best. You sprinkle the little colored chips on while it's tacky. Otherwise it has one flat unbroken color. There are kits sold for simulating granite, etc, but they are not suitable for floors. The Sherwin-Williams article in the link below specifically discourages the idea of painting tile in high-traffic areas. Comments (16)Hello! I’m submitting some inspiration pics to show you the shades of soft wood which would look great in your home! It’s a hard choice choosing between the table and the bench, I think a wooden bench would add more to the effect of rustic and help take the whole place away from the so formal structure it has, but then your entry does have that great art lighting fixture to highlight a piece really nice above a table. With a high gloss paint white on the doors, it could offer your home that nice shine look we all strive for, if your keeping them white. You have the setup for a nice piece of art with the light but I think a small gallery wall would look better, black frame, matted, black and white photo....See MoreLarge Entry Loggia Design Ideas.
Comments (59)@thinksesignlive...that’s a great image. Do you think the wood slab ceiling would make the space darker further and make the ceiling feel even lower? What do you think if the wood seat ceiling had slats of mirror randomly incorporated in the space? Then on the floor which which could be wood slat as well, but incorporate random pieces of a heavy duty frosted glass (the feel of a water element) in the space. Instead of a couch for entertaining guests, incorporate outdoor patio furniture but more lush but durable cushions (sunbrella fabric). Maybe just a couple tall low level light plants, use a plant service to change them out every couple months. Lastly, add a simple zen water feature so block road noise and bounce light off of in the evenings. Comments (4)First of all, I’ve been toying with the idea of adding a vestibule to the front of my home, so this project of yours is very intriguing to me! Moving on, since the current tiled entryway area is part of the room with the hardwood, replace that tile with the same wood. As for the vestibule flooring, will there be a door and/or significant change in elevation (i.e., a step) between the vestibule and the rest of the entry? If so, you could use tile in the vestibule. Would I recommend using the tile you’re thinking about using? Probably not, and for the very reason you’re concerned about—“that it would look like I tried to hard to get them to match.” But to know for sure, I’d really have to see the rest of your space and the plans for the vestibule, though my initial thought would be to use something completely different in shape, color and/or texture from the kitchen tile. For example, maybe use just those small hex tiles or perhaps use a charcoal/black tile. Btw, have you considered enlarging the opening to the kitchen?...See Morenjmomma
