When should I expect the peek performance of my grass to be?
Comments (16)Here are the fertilizers I am using: Lawn Food Plus Iron 24-0-4 put first weekend of April, June and August next is crabgrass preventer plus lawn food 20-0-3 Put down first weekend of May and July A local nursery has me on this program (however, it is no different than any other customer with bermuda). I just went out and mower again. Still have issues with the washboarding. I paid close attention to the mowers handle and that is not the problem. You have to push way down on it to lift it at all. I made sure I was slightly elevated with it the entire time. Here are some photos I took. Let me know if you can't view them. http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q607/BamaMatt42/photo4.jpg?t=1344635447 This is the backyard. The spots at the bottom are dog pee spots I have filled in with sand (just figured out recently what was causing the spots. Yard has been mowed. http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q607/BamaMatt42/photo16.jpg?t=1344635440 Another backyard. I have mowed vertically to the reel mower. http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q607/BamaMatt42/photo15.jpg?t=1344635444 Another, mowed to the reel mower. http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q607/BamaMatt42/photo32.jpg?t=1344635443 Front yard. Mowed http://i1166.photobucket.com/albums/q607/BamaMatt42/photo23.jpg?t=1344635444 Another front yard. Mowed. I am posting this so I don't lose it but I am going to go take more pictures of the washboarding. I realize you cannot see it in these pictures....See MoreTake a peek to see if you can ID these for me!
Comments (25)Hi Mauirose, After looking at HMF I don't think the first one is CdC because in that one picture it shows it peachy looking and they are never that peach no matter what the weather is. They are only peachy in bud form. Same as the purple one, it is never that dark maroon color in some of the pictures on HMF. I think the one you think is Brandy has too small of blooms to be it. The blooms on it are only about 2 1/2 in across. I just don't know and guess I am just not gonna know for sure. I appreciate you taking the time and everyone else. Thanks a bunch, Judy...See MoreHow do you protect your expensive hosta?
Comments (23)Thank you so much for all your responses "whenever you get a new hosta, divide it immediately and put each division in a different area of the garden.." I would like to, but all of the expensive hostas come to me as single divisions, so they would need 3-4 more years until I will be able to divide them. "Why are you putting the pots in the shed for the winter?.." Because I am in zone 5-6, and to keep hungry critters away. Its better to be on the safe side. This morning I ran out and replanted my expensive ones in pots. The gravel on the top will keep squirrels away. I would rather be on the safe side and will move them into shed for winter. I like the idea of using hardware cloth cylinders and gravel at bottom of the hole, and will replant the rest directly without pots. I really hope it will work. Thank you for this idea. I use soilless mix and the results are really good no roots rot, but this morning I also realized that I lost another 10 out of a 2 dozen I purchased and planted last fall. I ran out of my soilless mix and was too lazy to drive for another bag. I had Miracle grow potting soil that I used to plant these 10. ALL of them are gone due to rooting rots, but the ones in the soilless mix are OK. Another lesson for me :( Out of my 0.3 acres the plant beds barely occupy 1/5 of it and I am overwhelmed with all the work that should be done to protect the plants. I do use Kaput vole baits, mouse traps, Cayenne pepper, Ammonium, slug baits ( and a beer sometime) in my arsenal. My husband, who hates gardening, would go crazy when every night I disappeared for an hour with a flashlight in my hand. I browse this forum frequently and looking at the beautiful manicured beds of hundred of hostas, and wonder how the folks with acres of hosta beds and collection of hundred of hostas are able to keep the critters and slugs away. Comments (165)Hey feisty! Long time no see. What great progress you've made. And, yours is not the longest reno for a small kitchen. I'm right there w/ you, still! Don't start a new thread. Keep this one going so everyone can see the progress over time. I love love the tile! I actually chose blue like that for my backsplash. However, I haven't put mine up! So, as you can see, your reno is no longer than mine! I was moving along & doing well & then I brought it to a complete halt about 8 months ago. I'm now thinking about tearing my whole house down & building 2 on my lot! Keep one for me & sell the other. I'm still not sure if I'm going to do it, but I hate to put anymore $ into the kitchen, & whole house for that matter, if I'm going to knock it down. Still iffy on doing it, but am thinking seriously about it. We'll see. You have come a long way & it looks great. I think you should do the tile. I don't think it's going to be trendy & date the kitchen down the road. I thought the brass was going to be trendy, but it's still going strong. Go w/ what you like! I can't wait to see more!...See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
