I used this Grout Renew to completely change the color of the grout on my bathroom floor. It has held up very well over the years. You would have to check whether it is ok for marble tile. It is not effective for a shower wall or floor. But for your bathroom floor it should be fine.

Thanks. The floor extends into the curbless shower so probably not an option. My tile guy also said none of the products are safe to use with marble.

At first I thought the gray grout on the white subway tile in my kitchen was too dark. I think it actually continued to lighten for at least 2 weeks. I guess it takes time for it to be completely dry. Anyway after I had everything done I love it. I think you will also. Good luck.

An epoxy grout colorant—with a very steady hand—is more than doable for a wet area. It just needs to be allowed to cure properly before use.

Did they seal it before grouting? It looks like it's been stained by the grout, but photos can be deceiving.

i am hoping it won’t bother me as much once everything is installed (tub, rugs etc). I don’t think the grout stained the tile. The marble does have some variation in tone. The issue is more that dark grout looking busy and kind of overpowering the stone. It definitely would be prettier with a light gray grout.

I hope it lightens more. That would be great. Even a little

Yes i messed up on my laundry floor too! I think it’s just hard to make all these decisions. I am really hoping I will get used to the dark grout once it’s complete

Once the room is completely finished it really shouldn’t bother you. You did yourself a favor with grout care over the years by going that dark.

I think after the bulkier items are installed (tub, toilet, vanity), it will help "hide" some of the floor tiles area which I think will help to look less busier. Great choice on the tiles! I love dolomite marble as well! My bathroom is also in work and I have 12"x24" dolomite as floor with gray grout as well. I have solid white Swanstone for the shower wall with similar shower niche set up :) I am sure you will like it after everything is done! I too second guess my grout, but like thinkdesignlive said, I picked gray grout for future maintenance advantage over white grout (also to save money as I used the same gray grout for the other two bathrooms with light gray and dark gray floor tiles)!

That's because there is nothing in the room! You need to wait and see it once everything is in the room and the room is finished. Please stop doing this to yourself. You need to trust that the final product will work out and it will. Your grout color is not too dark or too busy. I know that tile very well an have seen it even with darker grout.

I designed with hex marble tile walls for this project. Once it was grouted, I noticed it was about two shades darker than the sample. We confirmed they used the correct grout. We went so far as to have the grout company rep come out and look at it and he ultimately determined that the installer received a bad batch of grout. But after a few days, my client decided she really loved it, even if it wasn't our original intent. Sometimes, it's really a mistake. And sometimes it just takes adjusting your expectations to appreciate what you have. Take the time to pull everything else together and I suspect you'll find this to be a happy accident.

You don't even have proper lighting in the space yet! You need to stop panicking and wait till everything is in.

With no visible waterproofing sealing the floor to wall just outside the shower you may have a much more serious concern besides grout color. Which looks fine. The entire room should be waterproofed in a barrier free installation. Unless the entire floor has a liner continuing up behind the drywall that is not visible in your photo you will need to have a much more in depth discussion with your contractor. Sorry to go off topic. Just looking out for your $$$$

There will be a glass shower door which isn’t installed yet. The drywall will not get wet.

I was not concerned with shower over spray getting to the drywall. The reason waterproofing is applied to the entire floor and up the wall a couple inches in a barrier free installation as a standard practice is because of possible overflow from a drain back up. Without it water will exit the shower below the door and continue underneath all the walls to adjoining rooms causing widespread damage. Creating a seal at the toilet and heat pipes is needed. A overflow drain is required with some building codes. Yes the water would go out the bathroom door if not noticed in time.

Marble hold moisture.

Grout holds moisture.

Thinset holds moisture.

Depending on that's behind the tile, the bedding material/backer board may also hold moisture.

If it's a fresh installation, give the floor a week or two to dry out. It may lighten a bit more. porous materials like marble always take more time. Once the shower itself is used? You'll have a new wetting cycle.

Right now you have a visual expanse of nothing but a busy pattern of tiled floor. For one, it's a visual shock, because it's all new to your eye. And two, you're right, as fixtures are added and a throw rug or two are placed, the floor pattern itself will become less in your face.
