Curtain ideas in living room

I'd like to go floor to ceiling but could use pointers. Should I do a neutral? I lean to light colors to offset the dark floor and furniture. I'm also unsure on if we should do a light inner curtain or just a single curtain. I love triple pleated tops, hate grommets. Sorry this is dark! Thanks!

I don't think panels work there at all. There's not enough wall space anywhere plus the fact you have a fireplace there. I think shades would be a better option if you need them for light control or privacy.

If you do need curtains, then one long pleated panel per window matching your walls, like this arrangement, will work. Just pull them to the side during the day to let in light and a view.

If you don't need curtains for privacy, then don't have any at all. That way the fireplace can be the star.

If you were looking to add pattern in the room by the curtains you have, think about an oversized rug and art instead--high contrast that lightens the dark leather furniture and floor:

Any reason not to pull one of those leather pieces to face the windows and fireplaces, which are focal points of the room. Can you take a photo with your back to the fireplace to see the rest of the room? You'll get better suggestions that way.

My first question is What is your favorite color? You have excellent neutrals that could work with any color. If you love the cool gray green of Farrow and Ball's french gray I say go for that color. That is a color that can compliment many different colors from the gold warm tan drapes to a fire hot red chair or a deep green alligator. Go with what you like and you will be amazed that it works. If you think the Farrow and Ball French Gray is a little too green based you might consider another FB paint called Light also by FB French Gray FB Light by Farrow and Ball I like mixing cool and warm in different venues for drama. Obviously not all the colors but keeping it simple to two basic hues and working with them is ideal. You have one small wall behind your china cabinet that you could paint in a gold tan to match the drapes but the rest of the walls the Blue gray Farrow and ball you are thinking of would be perfect. Here are some combinations of gray blue and tan that look stunning. @Celerygirl is absolutely right and I completely agree with her. Trellis pattern of curtains is really a good choice that can a bring style to your living room and also add color and beauty to your dining room. The big thing I like about this, is the material used in these curtains which is really nice and substantial.

I would hang solid neutral drapes throughout..add bold saturated pillows and rugs to bring in color...please do not hang all those dark colored printed drapes in your beautiful home! the drapes are off white and eggnog can be mixed into all the rooms..beautiful and sophisticated! Have fun with color in accessories and get yourself some bold colorful rugs.

What are you willing/able to do? What, specifically, are you unhappy with? Are you considering replacing the furniture? Paint the walls? Without more information it's difficult for me to make suggestions. However, I'd strongly suggest moving that chair away from the draperies/window. And also change the paint color. Is the room as small as it looks in these pictures? If so, that furniture, in my opinion, is far too large. When you say "Beautify my living room again" (again being the word I'm referring to), what did it look like before when you considered it beautiful? I think you've got a lot to work with. It would also probably be a good idea for you to post this also in the Home Decorating Forum.

No window treatment at all, IMO. If heat and solar fading of floors or furniture is an issue, try some new high tech window film.

Definately not drpaery panels there you could do blinds on the doors and windows but I would look at solar shades for the heat and UV control and leave them be. The furniture arrangement makes no sense to me why not the tree in the right hand corner and at least a sofa facing the fireplace.

You have a lovely room. But drapes are not the solution. You don't have enough room plus drapes are always awkward on swing doors. I agree with everyone else, have a re-think and consider blinds on your doors. If this was my space I'd go for California shutters. They would enhance the great architectural features.

I agree with the others, drapery panels do not look right here. The room is lovely. Below are French Doors with Cellular shades. (pay no attention to the drapery). I also agree with window film, if privacy is not a issue. Window Film will completely protect against UV fading.
