Finished Bathroom Pics (two bathrooms!)--very pic heavy
Comments (41)Wooo!!! Cat, I am stuck at home because of the snow storm so wandered around here not looking at anything in particular and came upon your thread. I totally agree with you on the shower curtain choice. Regardless of whether I have the money to spare or not, keeping those suckers clean is a nuisance over time. We have a glass shower door that was installed back in 2003 and I can't tell you how much I hate cleaning it. Not that the door is all that dirty, but a shower curtain is way easier, and you can change the look/style whenever you feel like it. Can't do that with a pricey shower door. Anyway, everything looks lovely as usual, including the "prom" dress :-) Love, love those circular tiles, and the floor tiles that look like fabric. Gorgeous. What colour is that again? It looks greyish on my monitor....See MoreAnybody Decide To Wallpaper Your Bathroom?
Comments (24)Monicakm, that beaded one WAS one I briefly looked at, but my bathroom is more traditional. If I had contemporary that would definitely be one on my short list...I loved it. I saw it in one of the wallpaper books from an Interior Designer (ID). Thought it could be used almost like a backsplash. It was really gorgeous. The wallpaper I am considering is from the Candice Olson Dimensional Surfaces Book. The glass bead design is called Script Geo $130/roll. You can't tell by the picture, but the background has a beautiful sheen and the glass bead design is raised off the paper. The one with a faint scroll design with a grasscloth type weave is called Filigree on Sisal $140/roll. Those are retail prices, but the Interior Designer can get it for much less....See MoreMaster bathroom help-crosspost from bathroom forum
Comments (19)olychick, thank you for taking a look. :) I'm relieved to hear you think a white shower pan is best. I am heading out now to find porcelain marble look tiles for the shower walls to pick up the gray as you suggested. I want a shiny finish to the walls. Tell me if you think that's a misstep. I am avoiding marble as I have a marble topped vanity now that is pock marked with etchings. As far as seeing myself in the vanity, yes, I think I will be able to do so. I was planning on a black framed mirror spanning the vanity. My current vanity is 32 1/4" high (as will be the new vanity) and when seated on my vanity stool my reflection is seen up to my chest. The only issue currently is that my knees are pressed against drawers. I failed to mention that I was thinking of using absolute black granite for the vanity top for two reasons: one being cost and the other being to avoid etching. Will doing so deviate too much from my inspiration? Lastly, I had the idea of applying pieces of beveled mirror framed by black molding floor to ceiling along the back wall and continuing behind the toilet (similar to this only floor to ceiling with the exception of base molding & crown): [Traditional Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2107) by Northbrook Architects & Building Designers Michael A. Comments (21)I’ll play. And I appreciate the education. I wrote in another thread that getting it right is one way, but getting it wrong is thousands of different ways. Like every time someone builds something idiot proof, a better idiot evolves to sabotage that too. I don’t have the experience with the 1001 different ways of getting things wrong. Just maybe the usual 20-30 that I see on a regular basis. So honestly, some of what is happening in that picture, I’m not really sure what is going on. Other than the better built idiot wuz here. To me. It looks like the drywall wall (A) (that should have been demo’d!) was so out of plumb, that some wood scraps (D) were used to sorta frame it in enough plumb that they applied cement board to that scrap. With insufficient support and the wrong fastening schedule no doubt. Did they try to glop in some thinset in between the two layers? (B) Why? I don’t get this construction at all. Nor do I know what C is doing, unless it’s some sort of Bubba shim. (E, F, G) is a freaking wood curb not even properly covered by the waving in the breeze pan liner and some thinset. That’s an abomination that I do have experience with. One thing I don’t see is the pan liner up the wall in that weird sandwich construction. Nor do I see any poly there either. Or anything red, green, or orange. I’m on a phone, so none of the images will enlarge too much for me. (Excuses, excuses.LOL!) Let millwork and others play before posting the teacher’s key....See MoreCrystalgirl9369
