how to work with plastics

I am getting a 3D printed housing for a nest smoke alarm similar to what SeeLess sells so that I can mount the nest protect flush in the ceiling. The one seeless sells is wayy too expensive and no other company makes a product for this use case. my question is, I can get the 3D printed model but how can I plaster it and have a seamless transition from the ceiling drywall to the plastic housing? can I coat the plastic with a spray product that would allow adhesion to the typical joint compound used during drywalling? note that I would obviously want to prime/paint the drywall and this housing with the same wall paint for the ceiling so it has a clean seamless look.
