I just ordered MS Office Home Student for $124.99 free shipping form Amazon.com. Heck, and I just, with the help of friends on the web forums, managed to set Open Office as the default application for doc. ppt. and xls. I know my wife will be happy to have MS Office back on her machine, MS has really outdone itself (money mongers that they are) in making Office available for home use at a reasonable price, keeping in mind I can install it on both my and my wife's machine, plus another home machine, for the $125 price tag.

lynn, the boxes of hardwood were labeled "red cumaru" but I don't know if that's correct. We had several problems with the NC company we ordered from and (while we think the floors are pretty) they're not the Brazilian Teak we ordered. dilly, I can't wait to add some storage containers under the desk but we have a 17month old right now and she would have too much fun pulling everything out of the drawers. I think by the end of summer I may be able to get away with some storage under there. I love the picture of the wicker drawers...where did you find that?

If you decide you aren’t going to have the desk against a wall, put a floor outlet in now so that you don’t have cables running across the floor. I did a floor plan with my desk and rug then figured out where I would need sockets.

Lots of options…a bench or loveseat for a place to pull off or put on shoes; a chest of drawers or table; a desk or similar that you could drop keys /mail/ packages/purse, with a place to stash an umbrella or hat and gloves or dog leash, etc. or a place to charge phones. A secretary to hold calendar and stationery and greeting cards and stamps. A mini home office hub where you pay bills online. Or just a big plant and some artwork on the wall.
