Info. on Northland Rosarium roses?
Comments (9)I ordered from Northland roses about 4 years ago, as it was one of the only places I could find the wonderful old hybrid tea Silver Jubilee and one of the Romanticas (I forgot which one). Silver Jubilee was a strong healthy band and it has thrived in my zone 5 garden. The Romantica was a smaller band, and the owner of Northland Rosarium refused to charge me for it because he felt it wasn't up to his usual quality of roses. That's the kind of service you can probably still expect. I'd order from then any time. BTW, Silver Jubilee is a wonderfully hardy, disease resistant hybrid tea (I don't usually bother with them otherwise)....See Morenorthland rosarium
Comments (28)I'm wary of hijacking this thread, but since you ask, Sheila... I received a 'Peace', 'Life of the Party', 'Twilight Zone', and 'Stanwell Perpetual'. I wondered whether the 'Peace' (which I keep potted, and overwinter in an unheated garage) might be the result of decreased vigor after decades of propagating -- certainly one hears of such things with that rose. And the two floribundas are possibly just getting off to a slow start here in Zone 5b. But for a rose as reputedly tough as 'Stanwell Perpetual' to be a shrinking violet... well, it was disappointing....See MoreNorthland Rosarium

Comments (20)Dirt Digger - re Desdemona, just a note that the bare root that DA sells & the retail nurseries usually have is grafted. In order to get own root, you have to order the 2 quart pot from DA, but they are unfortunately sold out for spring. (They’ll probably have it available again for the fall 2 qt pot shipment, but since you‘re in zone 6, that might not work for you.) I bought a couple of the 2 quart own root Desdemonas last year, and they were healthy & look good & have put out new canes, but they definitely grow more slowly than grafted - I‘m in zone 9, and the plants are still relatively small....See MoreVaporvac Z6-OhioRiverValley
