Anyone painted oak cabinets white? Advice appreciated.
Comments (4)I haven't painted oak kitchen cabinets, but we did paint over oak paneling and doors. All were oak with a polyurethane finish. One painter told us they had to be sanded, then primed and painted - a messy and time consuming job. I then had another painter come in who told us that with the right product we didn't need to sand and could put it right on the polyurethane - resulting in a cheaper and less messy job. This was six years ago and there is not one spot where the paint has peeled or shown any signs of a weak bond. The product they used was by Dunn-Edwards and is called Block-it. It doesn't smell very good, but they put one coat on directly over the poly and then used a coat of latex interior paint. Came out great and as stated above has held up great....See MorePaint Color to go with COREtec Ivory Coast Oak?
Comments (4)Thanks so much for the photos, the basement looks amazing! I would not have thought there was that much variation in the Ivory Coast by looking at our sample. Does it still feel like a unified look when you are in the space, not “blotchy”? I will say for a light color it sure looks real. So many of the lighter colors look plasticty, if that’s a word!...See MorePaint Color for Walls to go with Honey Oak Trim

Here's SW Greek Villa in a room with golden oak features: Another way to pick your paint is to match the lightest color from your stone then go way, way lighter. Just make sure it harmonizes with the trim. Avoid a stark white and go for something warmer....See MoreWhat color paint goes with light white oak floors?
Comments (10)Another vote for Grey Wisp. It is such a great colour. Depending on your light source it can look more grey or more green. In either case it is lovely and I've used it several times in different rooms. It is a neutral and looks great with whites and taupes and blues. I wouldn't hesitate to use it with the flooring you are showing and the other items you've described. I have dark brown leather couches and it all goes together very well. Best way to test is get a small pot of paint and try it in different spots around the room, not just one small spot. And it looks great with white trim - my choice for white is BM Chantilly Lace. I think your flooring will look fabulous with those choices....See Moresammi2018
