Appreciate advice Paint color to go with light oak colored flooring
decided to go with light oak colored laminate flooring for family room (have dog) and soft mineral color for new couch and chair. Now need suggestions for wall paint. I am currently looking at Sherwin Williams Popular Gray and Sherwin Williams Alpaca. with either Snowbound or Extra White for the ceiling and trim. Do these work? Or is there other colors I should consider? Any help is appreciated. Below is picture of room before renovation. Then a picture of a chair that I currently have that I will place in that room with a pillow with colors that I want to pick up

you didn't post a pic of your flooring. light oak could mean, a honey oak color?your sofa is a little on the cool gray side. are they going to match ok?
these are both light oak laminates
obviously alpaca and your sofa work better w/the 2nd.

Anyone painted oak cabinets white? Advice appreciated.
Comments (4)I haven't painted oak kitchen cabinets, but we did paint over oak paneling and doors. All were oak with a polyurethane finish. One painter told us they had to be sanded, then primed and painted - a messy and time consuming job. I then had another painter come in who told us that with the right product we didn't need to sand and could put it right on the polyurethane - resulting in a cheaper and less messy job. This was six years ago and there is not one spot where the paint has peeled or shown any signs of a weak bond. The product they used was by Dunn-Edwards and is called Block-it. It doesn't smell very good, but they put one coat on directly over the poly and then used a coat of latex interior paint. Comments (10)Another vote for Grey Wisp. It is such a great colour. Depending on your light source it can look more grey or more green. In either case it is lovely and I've used it several times in different rooms. It is a neutral and looks great with whites and taupes and blues. I wouldn't hesitate to use it with the flooring you are showing and the other items you've described. I have dark brown leather couches and it all goes together very well. Best way to test is get a small pot of paint and try it in different spots around the room, not just one small spot. And it looks great with white trim - my choice for white is BM Chantilly Lace. I think your flooring will look fabulous with those choices....See More

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoOkay…paint color for North light and the upholstery is what is important. Disregard the color of the floors because a rug would be in order.
This is B.M. Mirage White (SW should be able to match it, but if you have a B.M. store, go there).
North light needs a lilac gray and your chair seat is perfect for this color. As for the floor, all that is needed is a hint of its color.
