Help me find right shade of Olive Sage Green

Comments (13)the good thing is when your house is at the beach, you don't need to try so hard. you don't need signs like 'this way to the beach' or 'manatee crossing'. you dont need lamps shaped like anchors. all of those items are for people whose houses are NOT at the beach. i recommend under decorating. under beachifying. nothing fussy, everything easy care. don't worry about your kitchen right now... stock up on olive oil and fresh veg, a good knife or two, make a great grill space outside. thats the good news. the bad news is even if you bought the place full cash and you have no mortgage, a second home is expensive. doubling all your utilities, your taxes, your trash pick up, etc etc etc. you'll be amazed how much it costs when you have to paint twice as often, replace roofs twice as often, its endless. don't spend a penny on your perfectly nice kitchen that you don't need to spend because it isnt quite the right color at this time. when things need to be painted, soon enough. anyway, thats more advice than you asked for, but there it is. enjoy your house near the beach. we've had ours for 18 years now and havent regretted a moment....See MorePlease help me "houzz-ify" my horrible kitchen!
Comments (43)I looked really hard to find any "dents," but couldn't. One commenter's post about frameless v. framed cabinets didn't make sense to me. I have framed, full-overlay cabinets in my kitchen, and frameless in my bathrooms. The 'look' is indistinguishable...yes, I may lose a little space in my kitchen cabinets, but aesthetically, they look the same. I also don't understand frameless being more expensive than framed; I don't recall that when we remodeled (in fact, the opposite was true), though it was 10 years ago. Of course, the OP said that she re-used 50% of her cabinets, which were not full-overlay, but partial over-lay, meaning the frames are visible, so that would certainly have accounted for a lot of her $$$ savings. I say, re-using as much as possible is a great thing! Congratulations on creating a kitchen that you are happy to work in!...See MoreHelp me find the color scheme for my house!
Comments (7)Nice home and yard. Definitely would not paint any brick. Would not add shutters; instead, would flank the left window with a pair of shrubs that keep their attractive appearance year round. In planting Zone 7, consider aucuba bushes or holly bushes or even the kind of abelia bushes that keep its leaves year round -- any shrub that looks good year round. Your door is a dark (wood?) finish and is more dominant than the garage door, as it should be. If your front door is to be painted, it could be repainted your favorite dark bold color with the same effect as long as you left your garage door a lighter color -- preferably one that makes it visually disappear rather than stand out -- which is likely why its current color was chosen. Your left window is white but there appears to be a dark (?brown?) trim stripe around it -- yet your larger center window grouping appears to have a darker frame as well as a dark (?brown?) trim stripe around it. If most of your windows are one color or the other, consider painting all windows and window frames so they'll be the same color. This light brick home is one that would look good with white windows and all white trim around doors and windows and white soffit and fascia as well -- even a white garage door and trim. Sage green could tend to make this brick look more pink than beige and you should at least test any paint color you are considering. Paint something and after it dries, then place it in front of the brick and look at it in different light (bright sun and twilight) before making a final decision....See Morehousegal200
