Comments (111)Jeanne, South Carolina...nice win yesterday!! I used to go to Notred Dame / USC games every other year when ND was out here playing. The tailgating is a blast and I love the games but it became so much work once it was time to get to your seat. Of course, major changes after 9-11. The last time I went to a ND/USC game (after 9-11), after tailgating for several hours, we headed in to the stadium an hour and a half hour prior to kickoff and did not get to our seats until halftime. I am very BIG on security but decided tiz better to watch on TV...LOL! Jayeanne, your Crimsin Tide.....are you OK after that devastating loss yesterday? Great game...but that final second......oh my!!! And my beloved Fighting Irish.....they lost, of course, to Stanford, which I expected would happen. However, Stanford did not blow them away. Final 27-20. Turnovers, turnovers, get ya everytime!! Jeanne, thanks again for Football In The Garden...FUN! The FOTESSERS, great group! Happy Sunday!! Comments (129)Received my great box from Rose today and what fun to open. She included a 4 o'clock tuber which is great because I couldn't grow any successfully last year so this will give me a head start. The cutest little painted gourd ornament that is hanging on our tree as I type this, nothing but that is on that tree because I am so far behind but it looks great. I love the ornaments I hang on the tree each year from my gardenweb friends. A decorative spray can for misting my plants, (much needed), seeds, hot cocoa mix, (again much needed as our temps have dropped), all fruit spread that will be out on the table tomorrow morning at breakfast and a huge jar of honey that I can't wait to start using. Thank you so much for all the great things packed in my box Rose. It is all much appreciated. I hope everyone is off to a great weekend. I spent an hour last night standing in the freezing cold after the maintenance guy hit a gas line while trying to dig next to our building to fix where we had water leak every time it rained. The store quickly filled up so we had to leave and it took almost an hour to get the company out to shut off the gas. The guy that hit the line thought it was no big deal and told other businesses that they didn't need to worry. The gas company was not happy with him. Since he was the one who caused the problem, he or his boss will be responsible. He made a real mess that escalated into big problems so this will cost someone thousands of dollar. Thus, the reason the gas company says "call before you dig". Smitties...See MoreFOTESS November 2017
Comments (98)Warm here. Got up to 70 today. Everyone has been outside the last two days and probably all weekend. Ever notice I have a lot of crazy stories? We went to visit family for Thanksgiving and it was great fun. My daughter came home with a rabbit. Of course the cousins who gave it to her said she had to ask me...the mom. I said yes and they all said they would have lost a bet. Later I found out the REST of the plan. My daughter has the rabbit in the living room in the dog kennel. She's read and listened to hours of YouTube videos on how to care for rabbits. It's a lop-eared, gray and white mottled girl. There is one very good thing--rabbit fertilizer!!! My Aussie Hound, smaller than a German Shepherd but certainly quite large--is afraid of the rabbit. He has always slept on the couch, but last night he wouldn't stay in the living room. He came UPSTAIRS! In fact, Thomas (the dog) wanted to sleep in my bed. Today the rabbit and the dog seemed to have a conversation. I certainly hope my dog can sleep downstairs!! On the way home from Thanksgiving we stopped at WalMart to get some rabbit supplies. We arrived at 5:40 p.m. and could tell we were in the middle of something. The Black Friday Sales started at 6 p.m. So we wound our way around plastic-wrapped skyscraper-shaped stacks. It was almost impossible to find the checkout...but we did it. We got out at 5:52 and met a stream of cars coming from the highway. I'm going to be a great-aunt! My nephew and wife are expecting in May. They announced the news this weekend. Have any of you grown ornamental kale? My aunt has a beautiful flowerbed. The kale was the only thing still green and the tops were pink. She said they are perennial in our area. It's so pretty and about 2.5 feet high. Heidi...See Moresmitties
