Its a recipe for Roasted Butternut Squash with a brush, rosemary and some seeds.

my husband is currently on a health food kick and over the weekend we had roasted radish, roasted turnips, roasted zucchini, roasted jicama, roasted sweet potato, roasted pecans, and what else....

this is currently on my kitchen counter...

my package will go out today. my dad came for a short visit on his way overseas and i've just gotten busy with him. i bought my item to send a while back was having trouble deciding on a recipe!

urooj! Those squash would work well with this recipe too! I am allergic to rosemary so I don't use it, but after you put on the glaze, if you sprinkle with rosemary before you bake, it is supposedly very good. It's an aunt's recipe and she does this for thanksgiving only she make it into a puree and then puts it in little tart cups. Everyone loves them, i've yet to try putting it in tart cups, we just love the squash!

well nuts...i thought i was on to something! I got my package from Lisa. It was a lovely handmade card and recipe for roasted butternut squash! I love squash and so does Ben, we just determined he could eat cinnamon no problem, so i am going to have to try this one out on him! I have lots of squash seeds but no butternut! Thanks Lisa, I will definitely have to try my hand at growing some next season. she also provided a lovely oven mitt, which was opportune because i just threw out a nasty one the other day, and was looking for an extra, but when we moved I think they got lost. So it came in handy at suppertime tonight! :)

Margo, I feel so bad that I haven't mailed your package yet. I got sick a little over a week ago and haven't been out of the house since then except for a doctor's appointment on Monday. Not only not "out of the house" but really not up to doing anything. I think I'm on the right track now with the new prescriptions from the doctor but one that I need to take 3 times a day makes you sleepy and warns not to operate heavy machinery. I think my husband is willing to take me to the store today so hopefully your package will be on its way by tomorrow. I should have planned and bought the items early in the month. Live and learn. I seldom catch a cold and this one has been extra bad: runny nose, sinus congestion, sore throat, lots of coughing and laryngitis. With the congestion I wasn't getting more than about 5 hours of sleep a night and sometimes not that much. Thanks for waiting patiently. (I'll make sure my hands have been sanitized when touching anything that goes in your package! Sure don't want to pass any germs along.)

Sharing this update about my African violet with everyone. Maybe you remember I bought an African violet at a grocery store about a year ago. It had all these lovely blossoms on it but it appeared that people were breaking leaves off the plant because leaves at the bottom had certainly been removed and it had more flowers than leaves. It was so pretty that I decided to "rescue" it. My history in this house has been dismal with African violets. I had never gotten one to rebloom. Anyway, after awhile I read every hint there was for getting them to bloom and in the last few weeks my plant is putting out multiple buds! I'll try to remember to take a picture and post it once they open.

Margo, when you see your recipes, I had them in mind for Thanksgiving Day breakfast or brunch so maybe they will make more sense when you look at them that way.

Unfortunately still sick here and I am disappointment that the pressure in my ear has not gone away despite 5 days of antibiotics so far. It makes you feel a bit off-balance and those who have had that symptom can relate.

*Recipe...Spinach Salad with Dried Cranberries, Walnuts and Pomegranate Vinaigrette....and she include a bag of Cranberries......love spinach salad.....dressing sounds devine

*Seeds.....Rhubarb, Fava Beans Hangdown....love my Fava Beans and I have not tried this variety, California Wonder Red Bell Peppers

*Dish towel which says "Fall in Love with Moments not Things".....I LOVE THIS!!

Our visit to South Carolina is over and we are headed home. Always goes by so fast.

Both college girls are headed home ahead of the snow. It's 50 degrees out and it's hard to believe snow is on the way, but that's what makes these storms so crazy when the two storms crash into each other!

My daughter has to start her student teaching over. I am fit to be tied. She can't do it until Fall 2020. She had a class of second graders where one kid laid on the floor or sat in the teacher's chair or walked around and another kid made himself bleed and told his mother the teachers hit him (and she believed it and caused a real ruckus over and over). For some reason those kids weren't getting much homework done. Part of the grading of the student teacher includes failing if the student teacher has 3 or more students not paying full attention. My mama bear comes out in me. I want to send those academic yahoos into that classroom and see if they can do it and if they can't they lose their pretty boy tenured cushy college salaries. So I'm going to go get a Diet Coke (that's the equivalent of Chardonnay for many of you) and distract myself somehow!

But I did order some Peruvian corn seeds. Going to try and grow them this year, then toast them for a snack. Heidi

Recd my package from Jeanne and it’s great she sent a recipe for oven baked pancake with lemon and nutmeg as well as a recipe for apple impromptu. I’m excited to try both.

she also generously included paper plates and napkins which i will bring with me to my sons to use at dessert. Cinnamon for my recipe, m&m candy, and crocus for the garden. I’m headed out before the bad weather to plant these. Jeanne thank you so much for the great package.

It's snowing in Nebraska! Big, wet clumping flakes. The ground is warm so there's no ice--yet. Listened to the radio weather and when it was all done and said we could get 4"-14". Now that's quite a difference! Like I say...wanna job you can lie in....be a weatherman! My dog is happy with snow. My cat considers it a personal affront. Poor baby! Heidi
