Beautiful Backsplashes:Links to BreathTaking Pictures & Resources
Comments (122)This is a link to a website (hope it comes through) for the request for rustic tiles. I found Ken Mason Tiles in a magazine. They are beautiful hand-made, hand painted tiles from California. Using them for my entire backsplash turned out to be "beyond my budget", but they do have a slection of "Overruns" on the web site for 1/2 price. I was able to pick out individual 3 x 3 tiles from the overruns to use as accents in my 4 x 4" tumbled travertine marble backsplash. They make me happy ever time I look at them. I love the "culinarios" (fruits and vegetables) and, especially, the cherub tile that is next to my sink. Here is a link that might be useful: Ken Mason Tiles...See MoreNeed help with backsplash design
Comments (16)Thanks for taking the time to let me know what you think. Tile is finishing up tomorrow. We are going to skip the tile on the peninsula wall. For the finish edge on the outside corner we were going to polish the edges of the tile and keep it fairly square. I wanted a quarter round, but my husband won that coin toss. I appreciate the advice and encouragement. We still have to paint and the door needs a makeover, possible replacement. We have to see how the makeover goes first. Lots of loose ends to finish up, but close to the finish line....See MoreAll-white kitchen remodel: Marble backsplash makes counters dingy!
Comments (23)We found 3 whites that we love together. The cabinets are a dove white, counter top is Viatera Minuet quartz (the smaller sample on the edge) and backsplash is Lansdale Carrera Amalfi from the Tile Shop. The marble is creamy with very subtle warm veining and tiny sparkly flecks. Fingers crossed that when we get the marble in larger quantities it is as uniform as the box they had at the store!!! The color variation on the sample we have is very subtle and diffuse and does not fight with the counter top....See MoreBacker Board for Cement tile kitchen backsplash
Comments (3)yes to the backer board behind the stove. It is needed for the heat from the stove. Since I did read elsewhere, that you are redoing a manufactured home, I am thinking maybe you need to use backer board under all the tile. I am pretty sure the manufacturer would never approve caulking tiles on. Read up on it and contact the manufacturer yourself. It sounds to me, like your cabinet guy is NOT a tile guy. You are buying fairly expensive tile, please hire a tile guy that knows how to install tile. Read this forum, you will see many tile disasters, because the wrong tile guys were hired. Dont let him touch your tiles, until you do the proper research on installation....See Moreeam44
