insulated cell packs good or bad idea?? waste of money??
Comments (6)medontdo, I used to think too that those annuals had to be sown inside, but then I found out on here that you can ws them, just not as early as the perennials. I plan on sowing my annuals on March 1. I don't have nearly as many annuals to sow as I did perennials, so I know I'll be able to get them all done that day. I don't know about you, but I don't have a whole lot of space inside to put plants, so this ws the beginning of March seems like a good solution. mnwsgal, So do you put your ws tomatoes in the walls of water and the ones planted inside you plant out in the garden the regular way...or the other way around? I heard of those walls of water and might try them someday. Do they really make a lot of difference? About how tall are they? So do you just keep the tomato stalks in them for a short period of time, eg. a month and then remove them? I'm guessing that's the case because I can't picture how they would work with tomato stalks. I put mine in 4-tier tomato cages last year and they got so tall that I thought they could probably use another tier or two if they even made such a thing, but I supposed they'd cost as much as the tomatoes are worth. My tomato stalks got pretty tall, like maybe 4 feet, and I'm not sure a big tomato stalk would be able to be supported by a wall of water, or maybe you somehow use both the cage and that WOW? I think it would be great to be able to use them all season because when I grew my tomatoes last year and October rolled around with frost, of course, despite my covering the tomato stalks they still froze. Had I known that it was going to be a waste of time covering them, I wouldn't have bothered. It wasn't even a hard frost that killed them! I wonder if that's common....See MoreDid I just waste money on LG?
Comments (5)I have the 2487 steamwasher/dryer (no steam). To be honest I was amazed that LG would "follow" suit when they are/were the innovators. Not unless I am missing something about the dryers capabilities; why in the world would you need TWO units that do the exact same thing. Not unless you can steam more than 5 items in the dryer (5 is max for the washer). The SteamFresh system is cool on the washer, it is made to get rid of light odors and/or wrinkles. The SteamWash is a very nice feature that I have used on occasion. The two are quite different. SteamFresh has absolutely no cleaning capabilities. I know on the Kenmore/Whirlpool dryers their steam feature is the same as our SteamWashers, I do not know if there are any capacity constraints though. I wonder if you have to run another water line to the dryer or is there a water resevoir for the steam feature in the dryers....See MorePls help - Franke Sink - am I wasting my money?
Comments (13)I have two large 30" stainless sinks in my kitchen. One is a Franke sink with a half "shelf" ledge. The "shelf" is the reason I bought it. The "shelf" is a joke, because the ledge is very small and sloped, so if anything of any substantial weight is placed on the shelf, it crashes down into the sink! The other is a relatively CHEAP sink by Ticor, bought for just over $200 from Galaxy Tool Supply. It is 16 gauge SS, is equally as sound-dampening as the Franke even with garbage disposal running and looks just as nice. You'd never think twice about my two sinks when using them. It's not a bit noticeable that one cost hundreds less than the other! Bottom line - After living with both sinks for over 2 years, I wish I had skipped the Franke sink and gone with two Ticors and saved hundreds of dollars! In fact, the Ticor sink is the one used most, since it is next to my stove and because there is no shelf in it, it is the easier sink to use for hand washing large items. Here is a link that might be useful: Link to my Ticor Sink...See MoreDo You Worry About Money?
Comments (31)No, I don't worry. We have never been ones to live beyond our means so it has made it much easier on retirement. We are totally debt free and don't live on charge cards. We have been married 42 years and had 3 kids. We knew from the beginning we needed to educate them for them to have a good start on life. We have always been willing to do without or wait until the money was available. I would do it all over again. About 20 years ago we bought a place in the southern part of our state as an investment. This has been nice. We enjoy going down but also know we could sell it if ever needed. I can say we are one of the lucky ones with hubby having a great retirement fund. I am grateful for this. Are we rich, no and very far from it but we have a great life with what we have. I know it is hard not to worry about things from time to time. Sometimes a person doesn't really have a choice. I have a couple single lady friends that I try to help from time to time with small things that do mean alot. I have an elderly lady down the road that appreciates such small things. I often take her food that I know she would not make for herself. One neighbor takes the daily newspaper to her when they are finished with it. Small things that really doesn't cost us a thing but is worth millions to them.....See MoreG & S Floor Service
