LX280 Engine Surge...I've tried most everything
Comments (18)First off, thanks for all the replies so far. I think I am on the right track. I started the engine, immediately started to surge, let it warm up for a few minutes, still surging. I can stick a screwdriver under the governor linkage and apply very slight upward or downward pressure and it will stop surging immediately. At WOT, if I keep the linkage from bouncing up and down for a few seconds and slowly let go, it will not surge for 20-30 seconds. It then starts surging very little but quickly ramps up to the full on surge in a matter of a couple of seconds. Keep in mind the surge from high to low and back to high is less than a second. I observed a few other things. It doesn't surge at idle, but starts at about half throttle. The spring from the throttle to the governor, at idle, has a slight amount of tension. The only adjustment I can see making, on the governor, is actually repositioning the linkage either up or down on the shaft that comes out of the governor. Would this be my next step? I like my JD dealer but I don't want to think about how much he would charge. Especially, since he has to come get it or I have to rent a trailer. Scott...See MoreI've tried my best....

Comments (15)I walked across the street and spoke w/ farmer there and he said our soil has more issues with clay, I use a compost that supposed to help breakdown the clay. I got a soil tester the one with the capsules and it read now 7-6ph now I've just added frets so I tested an area a few feet away@6.since 2days of frost and rain the leaves r starting to curl inwards around the edges. I think I've done what I can so far but looking into citrus fert they had low N except tree & shrubs, couldn't find high N alone unless it was a grass fert so I went with citrus avacodo @ 15-4-6 add that to 5-1-1 fish emulsion I already used a month & a half ago and another the other day. So I pretty sure I need to wait to spring and hope for a lot of new leave growth. I thank everyone for their help. W/small section of side yard we grow tomatoes but I turned the soil added potting soil and compost to the already clay area but they've done well mant times what else can I do? The clay seems to wash down and form another clay layer. I've added minerals to the soil as well!,,...See MoreWorst books I've ever tried to enjoy
Comments (59)Can't answer that Carolyn! Didn't know you in the US don't use bitten. Does this mean you would say "I was badly bit by an ant"? I have also noticed in US usage the word fit is used when we would say fitted. eg 'The new 'fridge fitted into the corner of the kitchen' Re gotten. Is it used in 'formal' speech, as in a legal document for eg? While on the subject . . . I've noticed that in the US you say two times whereas we say twice , although the use of thrice (three times) is now considered archaic/Biblical....See MoreEileen
