i imagine it would weaken the cabinet, but maybe you can find a way to add cross bracing to make up for it somewhat...

Do u know if my installer has to modify this during install? Or can I call someone down once we move in ? Is there another solution ? To make it fit. Cuz it’s stock cabinets..

Get a shorter broom.

Stock cab so don’t have option of saying tall one unit

i have a similar set up except the broom closet is not really split. there are upper cabinets on top of it. (ignore mess, i just had everything painted and still trying to organize everything in the cabinets)

48" is a good size. I mean, how many 5' brooms do you own?? I have two mops in there. the broom I keep in another closet, but it would fit if I wanted to put it in there. measure your brooms/mops. you should be fine

One broom one mop we are tall I can’t work with short products.

just for grins, i measured my longest mop. it's 49 inches. Slanting it a bit, it would fit. You might want to measure your favorite cleaning tools.

My broom is 53:) would that fit in 48 if I slant it tho obv it doesn’t mean I stick with one broom forever but don’t want a closet that won’t work for the job

what about a regular pantry cabinet? don't those come w/adjustable shelves? or are they all in two pieces? (which seems odd)

I don’t know :( I’m meeting with deisgner again in a week or so but last we discussed this it’s my only option size wise for pantry /utility size

that's weird, because they make pantries with adjustable shelving all the way up. (which means you can remove them, leaving you an open interior. maybe they don't make one narrow enough to fit in that spot?

in any case, the top shelf should be able to be modified without affecting the structure integrity. at the very least, you could cut away half of the upper portion so you could stand up your tall items.

There is one fixed Horizontal shelf in pantries for stability’s sake. It is what keeps the whole together and not collapsing during transport. Just like most bookcases or other tall furniture. It must have horizontal bracing for stability.

You can only modify that fixed shelf if you reinforce all around with shins to support the side walls and face frame during installation. If you don’t have it reinforced during install, you can’t modify safely later. You are still left with a door that is too short, that forces you to open 2 doors at once to access the interior.

Masterbrand cabinets in the semi custom brands have a real sized tall broom pantry cabinet available.

I wouldn't have a pantry there. It's going to be tight enough as it is and you have a pantry already. Seeing your layout, I also don't think I'd fool with a broom closet in the kitchen. It'll be easy enough to store it in the pantry. Can you move the refrigerator to the end and make the tall pullout to its right larger?

I have the option of a pull out broom closet near my fridge. Just thought I get more for my buck by doing a pantry and getting some storage on top. The pull out we selected gives us place for few brooms and 3 large sizes detergents and shovel tissue holder

Tables need 36” of clearance all the way aground them. Otherwise people can’t use the table.

So this is 12 feet wide area. Are u saying it’s too tight like this ?
