Paint Colour for Kitchen / Family Room combo
Comments (4)HC-173 Edgecomb Gray -- Couldn't even find this on the Main Color Chart (to see where it was nested) but it does come up when you search for it singularly. This is definitely more "beige" than gray -- brown base it seems. I rarely advise on a specific color but I'm studying grays for a project right now. Ideally, if you can locate that color on the Master Color Chart or even back at the store on Paint Chips -- move more toward the TRUE Grays and not near neutrals or brown bases. Alternatively I like you're new choices of white or blue-gray too. I always keep in mind the basic trend of going with "warm colors" or "cool colors". Gray, Blues, Greens are definitely cool and breezy and in-line with your vibe. Maybe don't give up on the gray -- the perfect one may be out there -- lots to choose from....See MoreBlue paint for family room and kitchen
Comments (11)Here's a link to a blue we used in our Family Room/Kitchen. Wythe Blue - HC 143 from Benjamin Moore. We sold this home last Fall.. but I loved the color. It took a while to find the right shade that worked best in all the different corners. Some got more light than others so it was difficult. If you like the blue in your pillows then that's a great place to start. Find a version that matches it. Or just a little deeper or lighter. In fact sometimes I find it works better to not have it match so perfectly. I really like how Sarah of Sarah's House uses different shades of colors in one room. You can always add another pillow with a mix of prints or other accessories to make it all blend nicely. Good luck. Comments (10)Beth, I do like the edgecomb. The Dining Room and our living room are connected because our house is a cape. So both rooms have to be the same color - currently edgecomb. If I change the dining room paint I have the repaint the living room also. The hallway and kitchen header that faces into the dining room also have to be the same colors because of the way they flow together. (That header is the only part of the kitchen that will be painted as the other two walls will be cabinets and backsplash. The family room, which is open facing the kitchen, is the only room where I could make a clean break and change colors, but I want those two rooms to be cohesive, just struggling to pull it all together....See MoreEdgecomb gray too yellow… more gray leaning greige?
Comments (26)Throwing in a vote for Ben Moore Silver Satin. We are finishing up a remodel and chose this as our "all over" color, so foyer, hallways, family room, kitchen, etc. I have it in a few north facing rooms and it's a lovely soft gray that does not look beige. My last house used Pale Oak as the main color, and I really liked that too, I just wanted to go a little more cool toned this time. Pale Oak, and I have found the same for Balboa Mist, tends to lean towards beige depending on what you pair it with. Other colors we considered that I think would work for you (all Ben Moore): Calm, Classic Gray, Gray Owl (this has strong green undertones but in my experience, a green undertone can actually warm things up in a north facing room, it seems like it shouldn't work but it does!)....See MoreB Designs Interior's
