Help needed with kitchen decor/countertop color
Comments (7)I have multicolor slate floors and cherry cabinets, too. I was originally thinking of green granite, then Uba Tuba, then black galaxy. My husband nixed all those, so we compromised on Black Impala. I like the way it looks with the floors, cabinets, and walls (cedar logs). It's a very even "pattern" that doesn't fight with the movement in the slate. So I would try to guide you toward a granite with less movement, but that's my own preference more than decorating advice. :-) Photos of my kitchen are linked below and through my member page. I'll be away all weekend, so bump this thread up on Sunday or Monday if you have other questions for me. Here is a link that might be useful: finished kitchen...See MoreMatte Floors and Honed Marble Counter tops
Comments (7)Thanks for your replies. FIRSTHOUSE. I love your kitchen. It is BEAUTIFUL. Your kitchen looks both "homey" , "clean and classic" and ELEGANT just as I imagined mine to be. We are having our cabinets made with glass fronts like yours also. And yes we have the same look in floors. We just had ours oak floors refinished with Miracle Oil, it is suppose to be tougher than poly, ( used in the Grand Ole' Opry dance floor.) Do you like them? We don't have our baseboards back up or furniture in the rooms yet , people think they are not finished. Here's another question FIRSTHOUSE, in the photo your counters look like marble. DH would like granite over marble over concern for marble's reputation. I've never seen white granite, can you tell me more about it ? What is its coloration ? Tell me all about your kitchen. Thank you so, so much for your inspiration....See MoreCan I make this a seated counter top ? New Construction question
Comments (24)In the first plan, I do like the closet placement in the master, but both bedrooms limit furniture placement. The Second plan makes furniture placement more flexible. It is unfortunate that as you walk in from the front door, you see the kItchen before anything else; at least the first plan leads you through the labyrinth to a view out the windows. And in the second, entering from the garage forces you to walk around to the bedrooms. If you could combine the half-bath and full-bath, you could have the laundry also be a walk-through to the bedrooms (and I just love having circulation opportunities in a house)....See MoreCambria Skara Brae and Ironsbridge counter - would they work together?
