I actually think they are good! They look modern and sleek.

I'd reevaluate once the trim is on. The curtains do look skimpy though. Might be the lack of trim again. When pulled back, the edge should be close or on the trim. The "hang them high and wide" advice is great for small windows on a large wall but when you have large windows, I think you can disregard it and trust your eye for what makes sense.

The curtains are definitely too skimpy; if you keep the current ones, you'll need to add 2 more panels on each to fill it out.

I don't care for this look -- I think they look awkward but that's just MO. I didn't like it when curtains puddled on the floor either!

Wait for the trim, but I think you should re-hang them so they just touch the floor. I would also add some more panels.

Are they all the way to the floor? That is what hanging the rods high complicates. The last pic looks better but the drapes will still probably need to be fuller if they are actually going to close.

they arent to the floor because they arwnt the ones I'm keeping. will tailor ones to dust the floor.

You need twice as much curtain width as you currently have, and the rod should be continuous (I e not two finials in the middle). The two ends should be at least 50% further out that they are.

Double up on those drapery panels.

PEOPLE READ WHAT SHE WROTE!!!! these are temporary curtains she has hanging there. Also I like that there are contradicting views on how wide the rods should be.

I held up a white board we had laying around. it is wider than our trim will be by a couple inches. But not having that dark gap there helped a lot in how the rod looked. it may be a tad too high still but definitely looks better.

What about some bamboo ? blinds hung up high by the rod. Let the blinds down a bit to cover the white wall part above the window

Run painters tape across the window at the mark of your wood trim. Then, measure the space between the trim and the ceiling. Divide by half. And hang your rod there.

I think the height is fine, but the rods need to be thicker. You also won't need the middle support with thicker rods. You can also consider using shades or blinds on the windows and just getting short decorative rods to frame the windows on each side with panels. You wouldn't need a full rod then.

UPDATE:
Thicker rods, different curtains. The finals of these curtains are large so I'm thinking if joining the two ends in the middle without finials to make one long rod over both windows.
I havent lowered the rod yet. do I still need to?

Debating these curtains or more of a plain cream white.

Hello! Without crown moldings I would just raise the hardware up so panels go to ceiling and you don’t have the awkward gap between ceiling and rod!

It's really a preference thing. I don't care for a large space between a rod and top of window and I also don't like rods right under the ceiling. However, it's okay to do either if that's the look you like. So the question is, do you like the rod high up? If you do, then just leave it be. If that space bothers you, then move it down.

The problem I have is the headings on the curtains. They look to be grommets which I do not think look good except as shower curtains. Are you having them custom made? If yes have the workroom make a French pleat heading and make sure they are full enough. And use rings with drapery hooks to hang them.
If not then purchase pinch pleat curtains.

Going to add my opinion...but you do what looks good to you. I personally like curtains/drapery rods just above the trim on the windows and curtains/drapes just touching the floor. Also like the drapery full enough so that when you pull it, it cover the windows. If you never pull the curtains/drapery, then that is different...though still would lower the rod.

2nd what someone posted above about adding bamboo shades. Here they are hung a foot of so above the window to give the window the illusion of more height, to use the extra space when hanging curtains high.

… with ceiling beam nearby, rod height fits in even better. Dark is ok if the focus fits well with rest of items/ the look of the whole.... yes, ok for now?
