French toast with sliced banana

Oatmeal with chia seeds, brown sugar and milk.

We are at the lake. Our son and 2 grandsons (20, home from college for the weekend, and 14) are out fishing. When they get back, any minute, I will be preparing a big breakfast...bacon, scrambled eggs and biscuits. Happy to do it!

My usual--coffee, English muffin bread, toasted, and orange juice. My daughter will be bringing my groceries and my weekly treat--a doughnut!

I finally tried making avocado toast yesterday since I had a ripe avocado and a tomato from my sister's garden. I toasted some Killer Dave's bread, brushed olive oil on the toast with some crushed garlic in it to flavor it. Roughly mashed the avocado, added salt and pepper and topped it with slices of tomato, which I also salted. I added slices of hard boiled egg to mine for protein, but DH ate the egg separately. A nice breakfast treat.

I had a Jimmy Dean Delights Eggwich. I just love those things! I really need to figure out a 'copycat' recipe for them so I can make my own to better fit my diet restrictions.

A couple of eggs over easy and a slice of buttered toast. Later had my coffee.

Buttered toasted bread with Everything But the Bagel sprinkled on top before toasting. And two small tangerines.

"Toad in a Hole" - an egg fried in a piece of bread with a hole in the center and cheese over that. Also an orange and coffee.

I haven't had breakfast yet, but will soon. I have mushrooms and spinach in the fridge. Rather than the mushroom/spinach omelet that I usually make, I think I'm going to mix up some pancake batter, add sauteed mushrooms and spinach along with crisp bacon pieces and make savory pancakes for breakfast. I'll have a fruit salad topped with yogurt on the side.

Chi, I made that olive tapenade last week-yum! Used kalamata and green olives. Artichoke hearts were packed in oil; I drained them, but they still looked 'oily', so I didn't add the olive oil the recipe called for. The recipe was wonderful- thanks!

Brunch with a group of church ladies: breakfast casserole, fruit, poppyseed muffin and orange juice.

Green smoothies. Actually, brown smoothies because blueberries and greens don't look pretty when blended together. But the taste made up for the less than attractive appearance.

Glad you liked it, Maddie! I'm already looking forward to making it for Thanksgiving. It's even better the 2nd day.

I had cheerios and diced peaches this morning.

IF I had fixed breakfast I love soft boiled eggs served over buttered baked toast and crispy fried bacon.

I picked up a couple of Mickey D's Sausage McMuffins on my way home from some early errands. These are a secret indulgence of mine (about the only fast food item I indulge in) and I share with the dog :-) He likes them as much as I do!!

I am feeding some sourdough starter at the moment so I can make waffles tomorrow. Looking forward to those!

We each had a chocolate - chocolate chip muffin.

That sounds tasty, Lars! although pepper jack plus salsa is probably a bit more heat than I want first thing in the morning!

I had a couple of turkey sausage links, with arugula and diced zucchini + yellow summer squash sautéed in some butter. Still trying to add vegetables to every meal - it is easier if I make a smoothie, like I did yesterday (avocado, pumpkin, strawberries, kale, greek yogurt, protein powder)

Sue, I'm so glad that you posted today! You reminded me to visit one of the local orchards for apples, freshly pressed cider, and honey. It's ingrained in me to make batches of applesauce to give away, as well as apple crisp, cake, and other special treats that are best with very fresh apples. So, I saw your post this morning and bingo! we had a plan for the day!

I had a brown sludgy this morning, too.....those blueberries really don't add to the appearance, that's for sure. When I came back from the fitness center, I had some of the scramblies and bacon that my husband fixed.

We took the girls with us to the orchard then came home to fill the house with the aroma of apples and cinnamon!

My usual yoghurt and sliced banana but mine was at about 3PM as I slept until 2:30, having gone to be around 5AM. I know - I'm like a baby who has her nights and days mixed up.

A pack of Nature Valley Almond Butter Granola Cups and a Diet Dr. Pepper for the caffeine as I rushed out the door.

Would you mind sharing the tapenade recipe, please. It sounds wonderful.

WalnutCreek, here's the recipe. I've only used the green olives but might try the kalamata olives too sometime like Maddie did. It really does taste better once the flavors meld a bit. I always make it the day before we want to eat it. I use the marinated/grilled artichokes from Trader Joe's for a little more flavor.

Artichoke-Olive Crostini
Adapted from Mario Batali

1 garlic clove, peeled and smashed
1 cup large green pitted olives
1 tablespoon capers, rinsed and drained
1 15-ounce can of artichoke hearts, drained
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
8 large slices of crusty bread

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a food processor, process the garlic, olives, capers, artichoke hearts and olive oil to a coarse paste.

2. Toast the bread on the oven rack for 6 minutes, or until crisp and browned. Spread the olive paste thickly over the toasts and serve.

Do ahead: The olive paste can be refrigerated for 2 days. Let it return to room temperature before using.
