Help with color choices! Grey, beige, or Greige!
Comments (5)amazing gray is a greige.. I have it in our master bath and I can't imagine it clashing with bronze/brown colored windows... it also doesn't show green undertones in our bath- if anything, it will look slightly lavender in certain lights, but not nearly as much a revere pewter did. I doubt if you'll have that problem outside... I would make sure that balanced beige wasn't too pinkish before you decided on that... where will the stone be? the entire front? will the stucco only be in the back?...See MoreGrey or greige or beige or...????
Comments (10)Wow! All of you are awesome! I like the coolness of a light, clean, grey with slight blue undertone. I love a lot of light. Our family room is 18’wide by 22’ long with 18’ ceilings. It has a wall of windows that are almost floor to ceiling. A fireplace that is being updated too. I want to use my slipcovered off-white sofas still. I have 5”wide maple flooring. Made. Massive mistake with my paint color 8 years ago. It looks like baby-poo, sort of a mustard color. Been living with the ugly since. I am really looking forward to choosing a beautiful paint color to remake my open family room, kitchen, area. I will be adding bright colors with pillows and decor. I have narrowed it down to a few Sherwin Williams colors. After my house is cleaned tomorrow I will post pics of the current ugly. Definitely will go with what makes me happy and not worry about what’s in or out. Thanks to each of you! Jeannine...See MorePaint sample craziness- Gray, Beige, Greige?
Comments (20)Yes. We have a unit vacating on the 31st and I just paid for another 5 gallons of D of M. D of M belongs to the middle of the Yellow hue family. (see the Colorography) When some yellows (most yellows) get darker and grayer they looker greener. It's not always noticeable, however. It's more like there are moments of greeness not necessarily an inherent sense of greeness. Personally, like that edge of greeness because to me it reads fresh and clean. What all that means is classic color theories apply. Colors that go with yellow and green will go with D of M and colors that don't, won't. Comments (27)Please explain how quality lighting is achieved Unfortunately, have to deal with the hand you're dealt when it comes to how much and the quality of natural light you have in a room. Adding windows and doors (called fenestration) to improve the amount and balance of light usually isn't realistic. Neither is changing light bulbs. Because even if you were to leave the lights on all day (and who does that?) the affect is comparable to spitting into the ocean and expecting it to rise. Window treatments that open to expose as much of the window as possible helps the most when trying to bring some balance to the quality of inherent light. By balance I mean a quality of light that shines a mix - or balance - of wavelengths across the whole visible spectrum. Not just warm like incandescent light bulbs and not just cool like many daylight light bulbs. What kind of light source will Balboa Mist need to look warm grayish purple. A natural or artificial light source that is 'cooler' and shines more wavelengths from the blue end of the spectrum can make Balboa Mist show up purple. Again, during the day the color and kelvins of a light bulb mean nothing. At night, it's going to change how the color looks - and the atmosphere. So, it's really important that you like the vibe you get in the room from a light bulb. That's just as important as how changing the light changes a paint color....See MoreRelated Professionals
