New house update- will need shopping help.
We are in the new house. I love it. I love the fact that it is so much smaller, we downsized from 3700 sq ft to 2050 sq ft. We live mostly on the first floor, upstairs are bedrooms for our two teen sons that are not home much, a second full bath, and my office nook and treadmill space.
A bonus that I didnt expect is that with the smaller lot size and smaller yard, the trees are much closer outside my windows. In my old house I saw expanses of grass, and then meadow. Here I see trees and I feel closer to the forest.
There is still much happening, the yard and driveway are a mess, I am missing some cabinets and cabinet pieces, I have boxes that still need unpacking but I am happy.
Here is a sneak peek picture of the kitchen. If you recall I went with dark green cabinets(SW Forestwood), white granite, and a fun backsplash. BTW I love cooking on induction so much more than gas.
And here is our great room space, all the rugs are still rolled up in the barn. I think I will get some fun new ones though since the colors will be different. Anyone up for some shopping? In addition to rugs, we are replacing the sofa and chairs and we need to discuss window treatments.
Going to look at fabrics for sofa and chairs today! I was thinking of the floral for 2 chairs.

Comments (6)I don't have any pics of the interior, but I'll include more of the exterior. We took these pics before the realtor showed up. Typically they don't allow you to take pics on a walk through. The only downside is not a lot of storage space, it's a tri level, so not a basement per se, but we can always add an addition years down the road. Good to know about replacing septic systems, we were thinking of expanding the house, and now that I think of it, it may infringe on the area where the septic is, so probably not feasible in that direction. Still, there are other options. Izzie, that sounds horrible about your sisters septic situation. I don't think there are any future plans for a city system, but something worth looking into. Thanks for the heads up. I've been told by others in the area that the well water is good. I lived somewhere very briefly with well water, and I had a lot of digestive issues..I chalked it up to food allergies at the time. Immediately after moving, I had no problems. Water softener is comprised of salt, correct? I wonder if it was the water softener causing the problems, or just the well water in general? This was next to a lake. I'm thinking we'll add a small wood burning stove to the lower level, will probably help with the musty smell. I was reading about the pros and cons of casement windows. I don't think these are casement??? Are those storm windows that I'm looking at on the outside (with only exterior removal?) I think some may be up/down sliders, while others are stationary. I have pets that are a little unruly, so I think casement would be difficult since the screens are on the inside. I'm sure my dogs would love to push on the screens. I'm assuming the pipe on the driveway with the reflectors around it (the pic in my first post above) is the septic system? More pics to follow......See MoreNew home, exterior needs updating

I tend to go more towards muted brown, red, yellow/gold, rust colors (in past), but open to other somewhat neutral palettes. I actually love the console, but was considering an antique cream color (if I could make that work?). My tastes tend to be traditional, rustic, a little farmhouse (pottery barn, restoration hardware, ballard designs) but with so many current needs, all those in a TIGHT budget! Aktillery9, i do like all of those looks. My husband did just tell me, due to wiring, there is chance we may not be able to mount on flat wall as i hoped, so i may be forced to go back to corner console again. :( When I get a chance, I'll post some of my fav looks....See Morenew house needs update
