Comments (11)tell her to try two leaves of gotu kola each day - just chew and then swallow. I broke my back in 1978 playing rugby union but the break wasn't found by my specialist until 2002. For all that time I was treated for soft tissue injury and was lucky to survive the chirporactory, the manipulation, the massages, the stretching. In all that time I relied on pretty strong painkillers to help me through the day. Because of the break and because I couldn't exercise properly I now have spurs growing on most of my lower verterbrae. Two weeks ago I finally found some gotu kola plants at a local fruit and veg shop. I planted the gotu kola and gave it a week to set its roots. Then I tried the two leaves a day for four days. The relief was almost instantaneous. To test the experiment I went off the gotu kola and my pain and stiffness returned as did the need for pain killers. That lasted four days. This evening I chewed two gotu kola leaves (Centella asiatica)and the pain and stiffness was gone within twenty minutes. I'm a convert and if worse comes to worst all you've done is waste a couple of dollars on another garden plant. try it. and let everyone know if it worked for your mum....See MorePeach Brandy Recipe from TGIF thread
Comments (32)arley, you are just a veritable fountain of information! Actually a local restaurant chain makes a very tasty (at least to me) Washington Red Appletini (their name for it). When asked the ingredients, they said Crown Royal, sour apple schnapps and pomegrante juice. I'm not very knowledgeable about mixed drinks but a friend insisted I try it. I could become a lush! So I guess I could purchase a bottle or 2. CR is my SIL's drink of choice but I have a feeling he gets the larger size. I'll check out Hobby Lobby. Neither Homegoods nor TJM had anything today. Thanks a bunch. jude...See Moremuesli mix - recipe please?
Comments (9)No problem at all. For one serving of muesli, mix 3/4 cup (one cup on riding days) of old fashioned oats, 2 heaping table spoons of mix, two tea spoons of ground flax seeds and one teaspoon of cocoa powder in a cereal bowl. Next add milk to make the oats mix swim, and eat (you could use a fruit yogurt instead). This is a crunchy mix! Mix for adding to the oats: 1 box of yellow raisins (my preferred choice) I package of roasted unsalted sunflower seeds 1 package of sliced almonds 1 package of mini chocolate chips (need my daily dose of chocolate) 2 cups of dried cranberries...See MoreRaisins & Gin
Comments (26)Apparently Paul Harvey popularized this home remedy. I went looking and found lots of info on this, including an article in Alternative Daily which is very informative about this folk remedy, at the link. It says that juniper berries (which flavor gin) are rich in vitamin C, catechins, alpha-terpineol, alpha-pinene, betulin caryophyllene, limonene, menthol, rutin and delta-3-carene all anti-inflammatory compounds. The article also says that golden (sultana) raisins are loaded with antioxidants such as resveratrol and vitamin C, and contain ferulic acid, gentisic acid and salicylic acid — known pain relievers. In addition, raisins contain potassium and calcium, both of which help protect against bone demineralization. Now, the alcohol part: too much alcohol speeds up the arthritis, but a moderate amount seems to be beneficial. According to the article, soaking raisins in gin allows all of their therapeutic properties to be readily absorbed and used as some of the medicinal compounds in plants are not water soluble; rather they are alcohol-soluble, and extraction via alcohol makes them available for our bodies to use. I guess if I used alcohol, I would try this remedy. source: https://www.thealternativedaily.com/fact-fallacy-gin-soaked-raisins-really-work-alleviate-pain/...See Moreeld6161
