Time for a new cell phone....
Comments (11)I'll either be getting the new phone from Alltel online or at the Alltel store, so I know the new phone will work with the service. Zipper, I hope you love your iPhone as much as everyone I know who has one, does. Give yourself a little time to learn it! And ask your friends to show you their tricks, if they have one. I can't get one, since I am not going to switch to AT&T. Minnie, my phone is a Samsung, it's a great little camera phone and it's our home phone and our computer connection, it stays here with the dog-sitter when we go on vacation, etc. So I'd like Woody's phone to be a giant step better than the little piece of junk Motorola he has now, it was like the cheapest phone they had and since he was getting a cell phone reluctantly, he wanted to economize. It's a good phone, reception-wise, but it does NOTHING. You can't even download a ringtone into it, let along take a photo. Terri, which LG do you prefer? I'll go look those up! Thanks for all the advice, people! If anyone has more recommendations, I'd love to hear it!...See Morecell phone ? if you buy a cell phone, from let's say
Comments (15)It depends on the phone and the carriers. There's a number of different types of service out there too. For instance different carriers use different frequencies (CDMA, PCS, GSM, etc) SIM cards are suggestive of GSM technology used by Tmo and ATT. If you're looking to use prepaid service you can sometimes use the phones but won't always have all the features. If you're looking for a contract service, then as cautioned before, beware of costs to change. Often the smallest thing will extend your contract. For instance, if you get a new phone, you generally get a new (extended) contract with hefty cancellation fees. You'll have to get more info from the companies, but generally speaking, Tmo will not be interchangeable with Virgin and Verizon. Tmo & AT&T are more likely to be options. Probably not answering your question, but not an easy question to answer!...See MoreNew tip for using cell phone :o)
Comments (13)I think I've told this story here before, but.... My DS#2 was working at the local feed store and while loading feed, he accidentally dropped his cell phone into the bed of a truck. Once he realized his phone was gone, he borrowed a co-workers phone and called me all upset. It was a new, expensive phone and he didn't know what to do. So I told him I would try calling the phone and maybe he or someone else would hear it. By this time the rancher whose truck the phone had fallen in was at his place standing at the back of his truck. My DS had a bird singing ringer for when I called him. So when I tried calling, the rancher only heard a bird singing. So DS had a friend call his phone. He had his ringer set as a rooster crowing when this friend called him. So the rancher started hearing the rooster crow. He was really puzzled then as he knew he didn't have any chickens on his place. Finally he found the phone and the next time I tried calling it the rancher answered. He was laughing so hard because by then he had figured out what had happened. DS was soooo glad to get his phone back!...See MoreHelp me pick a new cell phone?
Comments (33)I know nothing about Android phones as I the first smartphone I ever got was an Apple. I got the iohone4 when it first came out and had it until it died. I have the 6 now and have had it maybe two years. I decided to make the switch to an iPhone b/c at the time I had an iPad and had just replaced my Dell with a Mac, so figured I’d just make the leap to iPhone so that everything was compatible. At first I rarely used my phone except to call and text, but now that all my kids are teens, I use my phone all the time (please note, I do not talk or text when I’m with other people!). My kids have to have iPads for school, so this also made it easier as we all share an itunes account etc. Since I have no idea how an android phone compares with an iPhone, I can’t really offer advice there. however, if you are still considering an iPhone, and given your limited phone use, I would recommend looking at the SE. It is the same size as the 5 so not big. It is reasonably priced for an iPhone. When getting my youngest her first phone, that is what we selected for her as she does not *need* one of the more expensive options (tho she sometimes complains about her friends who have the latest and greatest which is ridiculous at her age). While the purpose for getting her the phone was so that we could reach her (no longer in school with her older siblings and for logistical reasons, I needed to be able to communicate with her), It still has other features that are useful. For example, she finished her book while we were at the beach so was able to download one from our library to read until we got home. I’m rambling here, but my point is, if you don’t need or want an expensive latest model iPhone, look at the SE if you are still considering Apple....See Moremaifleur01
