Latest baby quilt is finished

The pattern is called Emma's Star. The quilt is quite large for a baby quilt, 46x59. I really like the way the binding turned out. I sewed nine WOF 2.5" strips together along the long side and pressed the seams open to reduce bulk. Then I cut the 2.25" binding strips diagonally across the fabrics at a 45 degree angle. There was no way to avoid seams as I turned the corners while sewing on the binding, but it worked just fine. I'm sure it helped that the fabrics were all baatiks. The method I used is described here. Scrap binding This quilt will go into "inventory" to await the next baby to come along.

It's beautiful, Lois. It's looks soft and perfect for a baby. Do you have a Longarm? I can't keep track of how everyone quilts their quilts.

I basically designed it thinking there has to be an easier way. I traced a plate on freezer paper and folded it in half three times. I squared off the edges of the resulting bundle and have a pattern for a Dresden block With bigger spikes. Color Choices make a big difference. I have another quilt in progress with same color spokes. Makers big difference

Yes, polardream, that's wide rick-rack. The shop that was selling the pattern also had the rick-rack. I followed the pattern's directions and sewed close to each edge so when it's washed it won't curl up.

Bev, I have a Baby Lock Tiara. It's a sit-down long-arm quilter, I guess you'd call it. I almost always quilt a meandering pattern, because it's fast (relatively) , and I just want to get it done. It's not my favorite part of making a quilt. I have done a Baptist fan pattern with a ruler, but that was really slow. I'm not a fan of heavily-quilted quilts. I think you sacrifice the cuddle factor with too much quilting.
