5HP Briggs 1976 Tiller - Intake Valve Sticking
Comments (37)This old thread lives on... I did a spring check on my lawn and garden power equipment last night. The old brute, now 32 years in youth, started up in a couple of pulls. It seemed to run great all the way to wide open. I did store my equipment over the winter with the valves closed per bill's storage tip. It did make a very loud squealing sound that came and went a few times. Kind of like a slipping belt sound. When it made the sound, it was constant for 3 to 5 seconds each time. Could this just be something as simple as the pull start housing rubbing on the fly wheel? Or is a bearing in the block starting to fail?...See MoreMiele dishwasher intake/drain after wash cycle begins?
Comments (7)It's a Miele G843. Granted, it's 7 or 8 years old, but the frustrating thing is everything seems to work fine, until the intake/drain error occurs. All the usual suspects (ball valve, drain pump, water in bottom tray) seem to not apply... it was an expensive dishwasher, and just hoping to get some more life out of an otherwise good appliance. I've since gotten it to get through the soap wash cycle, and it gets to the rinse cycle where it does the error again. I did not do anything to it. So it's getting further through the cycle, but still doesn't complete the entire cycle. Thanks in advance for anyone's help...See MoreReplace Miele Dishwasher G841? ADA Compliant
Comments (8)Yes, it makes sense to find a better repairman!! Have you called Miele directly? They may be able to help, too. Messing up your floors is not a good idea, so if the DW can be fixed (do put down pads when a workman comes so your floor doesn't get messed up anyway) it's worth fixing. I don't know about ADA compliant DWs, but my parents got an Asko that would fit without disturbing their floor and they hate it. While you're looking for competent repair, you might also talk to a floor expert and see if anything can be done to accommodate a standard model. Since the one you have already is there, fits, and has a good record of function, it's worth having it restored. Oh! And if it's a question of design, such as door height, or maybe even overall height, rather than getting it in around the floor, do try going to supplier who deals with a lot of independent contractors. They often have catalogs which include old models which are still available. There might be something out there that will work better for you....See MoreNewer Miele Tabs on the Miele site
Comments (45)A few days ago I purchased a 10-pack of the Finish Quantum just to try them out, as I still have about a half bag of the Method. The first thing I did with the Quantum was to try it in my Miele Diamante empty, just to see if it created a lot of suds (like the newer Miele Tabs do) or if there is a chemical smell. After I heard the detergent door open, I waited about 5 minutes and opened the unit. There was a small amount of suds, but not nearly as much as the Miele Tabs, but still more suds than using the Method half-tab. Here's a pic of the Quantum after 5 minutes: Closed it back up, waited about 20 minutes later, opened it and the suds were gone. There was a very small smell, but not nearly as strong as the Cascade Compete. Later that night when the unit was full, I tried the Quantum with it and I turned off the automatic liquid rinse aid dispenser. Five minutes after the detergent door opened, I checked it and there was some suds, but a few minutes later they were gone. The next morning I checked it, and everything was clean, but a couple plastic cups still had a bit of moisture on the inside, and all tupperware item were wet. The next night I used the Quantum again, but turned back on the rinse aid dispenser to setting 1, which is what I had it set to with the Method and Miele tabs. The next morning I noticed that plastics were dry (like it use to be) and Tupperware was less wet, but still slightly damp. Overall, in using the Quantum tabs over the past few days, I've noticed that everything does appear a bit cleaner, as some cups/glasses/mugs that had some coffee/tea stains are now gone. Also, everything is more shinny. But this pack of 10 tabs was $3, so 30-ceents a tab, which I think is pricy, and they can't be cut in half since it's all powder inside. I'll have to check how much the 45-tab box was at the store or if it's cheaper to buy it on-line. The Method is 20 for $6, which is also 30-cents a tab, but since I cut those in-half, I get 40 loads at 15-cents each....See MoreBuehl
