Selecting vinyl siding and shingle roof color
We are building the house I included in the pictures on 15 acres, also pictured. The original picture is brick but we have decided to use vinyl siding and an architectural shingle roof. Do you have any suggestions on a color combo? I am really liking white siding but the maintenance is difficult.

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoI'd either go light siding and darker roof or light roof and darker siding. If you do light roof and darker siding consider a slate gray or dark greenish gray. Might look cool with a metal roof as I feel a farmhouse vibe. Beautiful lot and home. Enjoy.

Comments (1)The roof looks like Pewter Gray GAF HD Shingles, (Timberline), the windows were painted - or if those are not, then they will be custom, costing an arm and a leg. Comments (1)Seagrass is a pretty color, it will look nice. Personally I like more brown tones with greens but that's me. Is it possible to do the siding and then select the roof color? That way you'll be able to see the siding in your own light and test out roof samples with it. Here's a few Seagrass images I found with a google search. The first is more tan, the second more gray. Both look nice. Removing the awning would update the look of the house. Not sure of your budget, but adding a porch is a pricey addition. Between siding and roofing, it's going to be a big budget project when the porch roof and rail are added but it looks like a nice home so might be worth the investment. Are you locked into Certainteed for roofing? Here's some Owens Corning roofing with your siding. Their website is a lot easier to navigate and you can upload your home and try different things out. Perhaps Certainteed has the same thing but I found their site a little clunky. Try the visualizer on Certainteed and do a combo of the siding and the roofing options. If you do remove the awing, it's likely aluminum. Take it to a metal recycling place and get the $$ for it. Don't send it to the landfill....See MoreApril Williams

4 years agoWe are also on a farm and will be remodeling and adding on soon so we plan to paint the exterior. Right now, the brown/tan brick hides a lot of the dirt and as much as I'd love to have a creamy white/light warm gray house, I'm thinking I'll regret that because of the dust and insects. I'm thinking of going with a graying green or greenish gray.
